Exclamation Media Card is not currently inserted ... HELP!

Please Login to Remove!

hello,

I bought recently a new blackberry pearl but it didn't come with a memory card ( media card ? )

so I went and bought a new microSD sandisk 4 gb memory card ..

here what happens :

I insert it ... the cellphone turns on, there is a loading cursor for about couple of minutes then i see the screen and it says " checking security " something and then it loads to 100% and it says " security check passed "

but the memory of my cellphone did not change and when I go into

Options > Advanced options > media card. it says that " A media card is not presently inserted in the device "

I'm sure it's well inserted , I made sure several times....

what is happening ? when I bought the memory card the seller told me it is compatible with my Pearl ....

please help!!!

hmmm... try formatting it OUT of the BlackBerry on your PC. Did it come with one of those carrier cards?

also make sure you put the media card in the metal holder and then closed the holder. it isnt like the sim where you close the holder over it, you have to have it secure in the metal door before you close it.

insert it into your computer's memory card reader or if the card reader that it came with is USB plug it in there. it will show as an external hard drive. right click on that new drive and go to format.

This may be a silly question but... have you enabled media card support? advanced options->media card->Media card support "on".

I believe that your 8100 should still recognize the media card even if it will not support its full capacity. i.e. Your 8100 should recognize 2GB of the 4GB as usable, even if it does not support the full 4GB.

No I'm not sure... which is why I worded that carefully (...I believe...) I only recall reading something to that effect somewhere on this forum, but I was not ambitious enough to validate it.

thats where your problem lies. the .64 cant support the microSD card you bought. the max it supports is 2 gb. Go to the top of the 8100 forum and follow the sticky to upgrade your 8100 OS. After that you should have no problems.

Try putting the card in AFTER the phone is already on. Why was it off to begin with?
