I aggree with you mrogers, i just got the case today and i tried to put my 7520 in, and it did not work, but i was able to put my 7510 in, because it was made for the 7510 not the 7520.

it will not strech because of the hard back case on it.

rgr you really need to change your web page around to make the changes on this so others dont have to order and then exchange then wait for the right case to get to them.

thanks,
smk

I got rid of the stock plastic holster right away as I didn't like it so exposed and I felt that the Blackberry could fall out quite easily. I got the RIM Leather Holster and it is perfect. I have the 7250. It fits snug but pulls out quite easily with not chance whatsoever of falling out. I lokoed at the hydrofoam cases but didn't like the look too much.

And yes it does have the magnet and a swivel.

You are putting the 7290 in face first right?
Uh, yeah, the screen points down and faces out, right?

I think I'll put my case up here on BST and then perhaps get the correct one for my 7290. I'm not sure though--I really like the quick-draw action of the holster, but it makes an irritating plastic-squeak noise sometimes when I press something against it, like my arm or a chair.

SMKETER

Where should I change the site? What would make it more apparent that there are other choices available? I would really appreciate any input you might have to make it better.

As it is today the ACC-05150-001 page of the site doesn't specify the case is for a 7520. It does list the 7290 and 7250. It used to have some text that specified the 6510/7510 as compatible models as well (Which do work in the case).

The 7520 specific page only shows the RAC5524 / ACC-05505-001.

Again to all: when RIM specifies a leather case for a particular variation of the phone that doesn't necessarily exclude other models. These things are fairly generic. I freaked out the first time I got one as well and as I tell everyone it takes time to "break in" the cases. RIM on even specifies the ACC-05305-001 case (same as 05150, no Belt clip) for a variety of units - 7250 7280 etc

Dennis which model case are you using for your 7250? "ACC-xxxxx-xxx" what?

Mrogers which case is the correct one? "ACC-xxxxx-xxx" what? It certainly can't be reflective of what RIM shows on there site... that's a pic of the acc-05150-001!

I'm going to buy a 7290 and check the dimensions against the other units so we have some better data.

http://store.bizshopr.com/rimrac55059.html

I think the reason being is that the coding you have on your web page has the same product code for the 7510 and the 7520, I spent about 5 mins looking at it and its the only thing i could think of. So when your shipping dept goes to pull the units to ship and they look at the product numbers they could ship the wrong unit, plus the photo you use for the 7510 case is using a 7520 "black" blackberry not a "blue" blackberry.

Plus you say that the 7510 case will work with the 7520 case, and it really wont.

I also bet that RIM is coming out with this new case because they know they are wrong in that the case will fit the berry in two weeks, and they dont want to issue a recall to all of those that have got the case already, and really have left there dealers dealing with the mess.

I had our nextel rep who also has the 7520, and he uses the leather case and my 7520 slid right in.

Thanks,
SMK

Note to all, Smart phone depot is a great company to deal with, when my unit did not ship right away i got a email from the owner saying that, and they gave me back my shipping money.
I would highly recommed anyone doing business with them!!!

Thanks for the plug SM.

I think you may be a bit confused on the parts... Let me see if I can clear this up on your 7520...

First the leather case for the 6510 and 7510 was identified by Nextel as RAC55059. This case was discontinued back in November.

Second the replacement case for the 6510, 7510 AND 7520 is RAC5524 or ACC-05505-024.

Third there is no new case for RIM to introduce for the Nextel BB... It's already here as stated above.

When you look at the page http://store.bizshopr.com/rimrac55059.html you will notice the part# we reflect is the RIM designator "ACC-05505-024". We try to reference, where practical, the alternate Nextel part number (which I added in a second location for more clarity). If you order from that page you will receive a box that shows RAC5524/ACC-05505-024 labeled from RIM. If you need more clarification visit the Nextel web site accessories section for the 7520/7510/6510 and you will find the RAC5524 listed as the only leather case they sell. Bottom line here is - the case you want is already here and in stock. Has been since 7520 launch. In terms of photos that is the stock RIM photo we used which shows the RAC5524 and 7520.

Your rep was carrying the RAC5524 case (probably used for more than a week) that's why your BB slipped in.

IN terms of the 7290 which is where this thread was going I think... There are several new 62xx/72xx cases coming that will fit... These cases are generic, non-model specific hydrofoam cases. There is a much rumored new Leather case (which actually looks like the RAC5524 talked about above) for the 7290 etal. Big FYI the photos on shop.blackberry site are not correct. They are showing the acc-05150-001 which got this thread started.

Leather case with swivel clip specifically for the 7250/7290 model handhelds is ACC-08582-001. More than 5000 of these have shipped to various carriers/distributers over the last week an a half. Coming to an Accessory store near you............:0)

I had purchased the now discontinued Nextel leather case from another online vendor that they claimed would fit the BlackBerry 7520, 7290, 7280, 7230, 7210, 6230, 6210, 6280, 6510, 7510. In fact they are still selling this case. I wanted to return the case but didn't feel like dealing with them. It took 2 weeks for my case to be delivered, I guess that's what you get for free shipping. :(

Anyway I just got one of the verticle active holsters and it fits my 7520 just right. My only complaint is that it does not have the swivel. That would be my perfect case. Tillia, you seem to be one very much in the know about cases. Any specific reason why these cases don't come with the swivel?

Agreed.

I guess what I'm trying to convey to folks here is that really none of the leather cases are device specifiic, but fit a range of devices. I'll bet you a dollar the Nextel will work in the 7290 "specific" leather case.

You would agree the 05150 is going to be disco after the channel has plenty of the new cases would you not?

The ACC-05150-001. In the past this case has been promoted as suitable for the 7520 although you have corrected this at your site. As I already stated in my previous post it is still being listed at another site as fitting the 7520 and other BBs.

Thanks.

There seemed to be some confusion about the dimensions of the 7520 and 7510 but apparently they are enough different in the mid section to not enable the 05150 case to work. I honestly thought the 7510 and 7520 were the same dimensions. One of my outside reps has a 7520 the rest of us have 7510's.

On our site the 05150 case indicated it was compatible with the 7510 and for a period, the 7520... the 7520 was removed later. Now I have removed all reference to the Nextel units from that case. Again on our site the RAC5524/ACC-05505-024 has always been shown on the 7520 specific page since day one but of course the 05150 exists on other pages so some may have ordered it for that app.

I know BlackBerry claims their leather holster doesn't have a belt clip. Is there any way to conveniently attach the holster to your belt or is the whole thing suppose to wobble around in your pocket or briefcase?
Also, has anybody tried to resize and cover the surface of their screen with a film protector like the Fellowes WriteRight? This is the film that are used to cover screens on Palms. I'm trying to figure out a way to avoid scratching my screen.

Thanks,

There are two different types of RIM leather holsters, one model with belt clips and one without. The model I have does have a clip, so if you want one with a clip you can get one.

Thanks for the rapid response.

How do people use the RIM holsters without belt clips? Are they functional other than protecting your BlackBerry in a briefcase, etc?

Thanks

Hello all!
First off, no offence taken but I am a female and proud of it! :0)
Non swivel is cheaper to make and there are a great many people who don't like the swivel clip, myself included on that one! I have some inside information sources that I can tap to see if there are any plans in the works to add that swivel clip (loved by many, but not all) to any of the newer holsters.
I will let you know what I find out!

I don't know how rcg missed that because I assumed you were female all along. Maybe it was your name or just the tone of your posts.
