No A2DP. The main reason the pearl was so different is the micro SD slot allowing it to have MP3's and video files. No A2DP profile is really crippling it, especially since its so hard to get any sort of aftermarket headphones working with the 2.5mm jack

In the "you can't have everything" department, the size and weight are a little too small if you can believe it. I keep thinking that this thing is going to drop in a toilet or something while I am fumbling to answer it one day. If you have big hands (heh heh) you might notice this.

Maybe I just need to stop hanging out in bathrooms so much.

I've missed having some specialty apps that I enjoyed on the Palm. Virtual Rosary and the Palm Bible.

The camera/flash & video issues are ones I can live with. It's hard to have-it-all, the things the pearl does are good compromises overall. The 8800 has GPS. What can I say, I want it ALL and I want it NOW

Once you get 'into' suretype and having ALL your contacts and email 24/7/365 you'll love it! Being online all the time is very cool. I check email before getting out of bed; lets me know if I need to sleep in

Oh, and you'll find the BBForums to be Very Cool. I've learned lots here; better and smarter user community than I've seen elsewhere (palm, Windoze mobile/PC, etc).

Last Saturday, after installing MasterDocs, the device completely hanged up and I spent the whole afternoon making a hard-reset (Thanks to this forum and JL_Cmder). Even knowing everithing I know now, a hard reset takes almost 3 hours between download the OS and the hard reset itself (let's not talk about leaving everything as it was before).

Other minor issues:

- Headphones lasted 1.5 months.
- One of these days, this alarm will make me to get fired.
- No C/C++/ASM API for 3rd party developers to make as powerfull apps than its MP4 Player.
- Almost complete keyboard, one mouse, superb resolution and very powerfull Xscale @312Mhz, managed by a frustratingly limited OS and only Java API.

Biggest annoyances:

1. Suretype keyboard. I have gotten used to it and I like it for the space it saves (I love having a small pearl rather than a fullsize BB), but every now and then it plays some annoying trick on me in terms of word substitution. Grrr.

2. No good browser (I mean, that does a good job of rendering sites on that tiny screen.

If RIM comes out with something that is between the 8100 and the 8800 in terms of size, but has full qwerty, I'll be all over it. Can't be soon, though - my colleagues are already envious because I got the "fancy" BB.

Cool

I don't understand why do you complain so much aobut pearl's keyboard. I found it the perfect combination of space and usability. I previosly owned an QTEK S110 (HTC Magician) with pencil and I'm in love with this keyboard.

I do not use Suretype, because 2 letters a key means that statistically you only type 1.5 times more than with a qwerty keyboard. ¿Does 0.5 presses more make such diference? (Even fewer because there are 2 keys with one only letter). And using suretype you have, of course, fewer collinsions than with a 9+1 keyed keyboard.

You cannot have more keys in that area because you could find very dificult to access the keys with your fingers.

For me is perfect until I wait what is the iPhone solution. But it will be probably not as good as you won't be able to feel the keys with your fingers.

Oh, one other thing: mysterious behaviour. I guess it's because the phone is reaching computer-like capability, but it is sometimes a little scary how wildly it can go wrong. It seems like every two weeks I'm on here trying to figure out just what the hell is the problem now. Judging by the volume of similar posts I see, it's not just me. Think about it: would this forum be this busy if the product worked well out of the box?

(Un)luckily, Microsoft has softened us all up to expect this kind of ship-it-half-baked-and-let-the-user-do-the-testing situation -- so it feels almost normal.

"cant ring and vibrate at the same time"

yea i wish i could have that feature. I don't have any problems with speaker phone though as people mention and I hear mp3's clearly as stated people said it sounded muffled. I wish you can turn off picture noise.

My only real complaint is the memory leak. It would probably be intolerable were it not for SoftReset. Best $10 you can spend.

Other than that, it's an amazing phone!

Ditto this as my biggest complaint. I'd like access to multimedia content online via things like Flash, QuickTime, etc.

I'm split 50/50 on not being able to ring and vibe at the same time and battery life.

besides the flash plug in, I think the email on BB is horrible. Very limited attachments (only doc. xls but no wav, mp3 which many of us get from voice mail systems), and no html email... it's not even smart enough to strip out the html code so you can read the text from those.

The 8300 is suppose to fit that bill.
