Probably just a few different versions out there for different markets, but the one shown below is definitely my favorite flavor I've seen yet. Honestly, unless they get the video capture, beef up the media features, and get wifi worth it, I'll stick with my 8100. I'm really digging suretype- no need for full size keys, when I only press each button once anyway.

I like this version much better as well. It looks more like the Pearl.

Its tempting because of the full QWERTY...If I do, it probably wont be right away, like when I bought the Pearl the day it released

I'll take the slimmer pearl over the 8800, I went from a regular device to the pearl so the suretype is really a step up for me. I don't need to go any higher at this point.

I'll definitly sell both mine and my other line's pearls for the 8800. I dont mind the slightly wider body, but with the feature additions and wifi along with being able to use actual qwerty makes the 8800 irresistable.

I'll stick with the pearl, not really feeling the widebody on the 8800...i would like an updated pearl with wi-fi and a beefed up media center with a camera at least 2.0 and video capturing feature , speakers,battery life and more memory built in , but i really like the design on the pearl, and i dont even use the suretype..barely tried it...so i think id stick the pearl until the come out with maybe a pearl 2

I just got my Pearl today after trying a Treo 750v for 6 weeks and an 8700c before that, and I'll definitely get an 8800 when it comes out.

The Pearl is pretty awesome for its size and works very well, but I need the bigger device for work, if only because I'm used to the bigger form factor. But I'll probably keep the Pearl for the weekends and swap the SIM.

I believe it's a little early to make a decision on a device that is not out yet. To me, there is simply no substitute for using the device for a suitable period of time and then making a decision. Especially when it's something you use everyday and for a lot of us, it's for business and is very important to our job.

This is the reason I have purchased the 8700c, 7130, and Cingular Pearl. These are all very nice models. All have their pros & cons, since I have enjoyed this opportunity to try the three form factors, I find them all very good models. Each of them is far superior to the Treo's & Moto @ I have used previously.

For me, the best is the 7130c. However that does not make it the "Best BlackBerry" just the one that serves my needs the best. I handle a lot of emails daily along with using the phone and text msg and web access. I also prefer one handed usage and personally find SureType a brilliant solution. One that allows me to compose emails faster and more accurately than the qwerty keyboard that I used for years on Treos. I never thought that anything could replace a qwerty keyboard until I learned SureType.

As far as the 8800 models go, I'm also very interested and will buy one for a trial and then decide! Once I have it in hand and have used it for awhile then I will report my experience.

I'll hold out. I love the Pearl's form factor. The Pearl size works for me and I am into into the wode-bodied phones.

I just got a new Sprint PPC-6700 from my workplace, and let me just say this... I don't see the point to WiFi on a cellular phone. Even if the WiFi on the PPC-6700 worked perfectly, you're not going to see any real difference in webpage loading on a phone device over the speed you'll get from your telco's data plan. I don't see the BlackBerry offering much more.

Better integration with a corporate BES system? Probably.

LAN-based synchronization? Maybe.

Streaming audio and video? Nope, not yet anyhow. The BlackBerry can't even stream MP3 audio over the web through the modem connect yet. No reason to expect improvement with WiFi.

I simply just don't see the point for this generation of phones, so I have no issues about sticking with my Pearl unless Apple hits some kind of left-field home run.

QWERTY keyboard on the 8800? Eh, no big deal to me. I prefer the SureType on my BlackBerry Pearl -far- more than the 6700's QWERTY keyboard, and once you've spent a few weeks using SureType, it gets most of the words you train it to.

I love the Pearl as well, but if the 8800 comes out on T-Mobile and supports that UMA thing they're working on where I can use wifi and cell for voice calls, then I might have to switch.

If the 8800 feels like a slightly bigger 8100 with QWERTY, then I'm in. I'm ok with Suretype, but it really does slow down the typing at times.

If I go to the 8800, it'd be for the wifi, not the qwerty. Suretype works great for me.

like others I would have to see the device first.
Right now I'm truly loving the Pearl and the size of it.
Finally everything I need in a small package, with good voice quality and reception to boot!
Coming from a qwerty keyboard, I find Suretype much better and faster.
WIFI is irrelevant to me. Used it on prior phones and it just sucked the battery dry.
