I'm still waiting for seidio to offer the holster for skinned Pearls so I can order both the holster and skin at the same time and save on shipping.

They should be ready in another week and a half.

Should be, last time I checked their website they were. I placed an order too (USPS Priority). I doubt it will get here by Sat. :(

So, basically, they won't be ready in time to get a good price?

I'm either buying the skin+holster combo, or going with a different product unless I at least can find out what the price is going to be through Seidio now. But I don't want to wait until the end of the month just to find out it's going to be more than the cost of new holster + skin purchased now. That'll just send me elsewhere.

Thumbs up Received Mine Today - MiniReview

The short and sweet:

Observations:

1] The skin is completely opaque (I had expected some translucence and thought that my monitor hadn't been displaying it properly)...

2] It's neither sticky nor slick - for my money, it's a really good tradeoff between both...

3] It's very thin. I had an 8700 skin from seidio which had been 3mm-4mm think. I think this one comes in at 2mm... doesn't feel bulky in the slightest. When it is on, it's a tight fit into my TMob SDA holster. Stretching the holster seems to have allowed the phone to fit in it more easily with the skin applied.

4] Fit is spot on...

5] The jury for me is out on whether I like the extra bar across the middle of the phone or not... the top of the trackball is nearly obscured by the bar and it impedes upward movement of the trackball (my finger pushes against it). Most of the scrolling I do is downward, so I don't notice it often... but the good thing is that if I don't end up liking it, a snip of a scissor says adios!

6] That said, the keyboard isn't impeded in the slightest, even at the edges... typing is fine.

7] EDIT - I forgot to mention one thing... the skin does cover the sound hole in the top - I turned my phone ringer up one setting to compensate.

All in all, it's certainly worth the money folks - high quality! I can say safely that I like the idea of carrying my Pearl in my pocket now knowing that it'll be protected from change and lint by this skin and the screen protector I have.

Good Stuff!

What you can do is wait until just before the end of the month and see what the bundle price is then, or, buy the skin now and we'll match the bundle price by discounting the holster if it is less. Keep in mind that the skin price is going up, so I can't say for sure what will work out better for you.

I just got mine as well. I agree with the review above about everything. I dont know if i like the piece in the middle. It gets in the way when trying to scoll upward. I will probaby cut it off. Definitely worth the money though.

The main reason for that piece (beside protecting the buttons) is to shield the jog wheel from gettting accidentally moved while in a pocket or case of any kind. With the current RIM firmware, touching that wheel while a phone is ringing will stop the ringing. That was our way of trying to prevent that from happening.

According to this thread: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...se-8100-a.html

"...an extra amount of thickness around the track ball helps avoid accidental touching or pushing of this track ball."

But once cut, yeah I'd assume the only other purpose is protection which I completely don't mind...

Yes, cutting this would most probably loosen the case a bit. As the poster above said, it also helps to keep from jiggling the track ball, which would silence incoming rings.
