Cool 8100/Pearl Holster

Please Login to Remove!

All - does anyone have a description (or better, a picture) of the proposed Holster for Pearl? I'm guessing it's just as simple as the 7100 style but, as this is more consumer-oriented, I'm still curious.

** Edited Oct 18 **
I attended the recent Rogers Launch event for Pearl and noticed that "Microcel" were presenting in one of the booths, there. They had quite the line up of aftermarket and OEM parts (including cases) for the Pearl and many other BlackBerry products.

Feel free to follow the link just below to check them out yourselves.

Before the pics (black and a icky white color) were removed from the FCC site the pouch looked just like the one that accompanies the current 7130c. It is a leather pouch with a strap that straps over the top.

So there is no magnet for a sleep mode? That makes no sense. All Blackberries come with holsters, with the magnet for sleep mode. This is one of the things that sets Blackberry apart from every other PDA phone, not to mention keeps the long battery life. I will have to see it for myself to believe that one.

I have talked to RIM staff and this one will NOT have a holster. They have designed it for in your pocket and more of the regular consumer.

I agree but the 7100 series has always had a soft pouch included or available. I am sure Seidio will produce one.

Wierd thing about it is, it doesnt come with a holster, but if you run a magnet over the key board it will go to sleep.

Maybe a holster will be out soon.

The retail box I saw did not come with a holster correct, but that was the T-Mobile demo unit that was shipped out to all stores, full retail ones will most likely come with a holster.

Default no holster in box

It seems the Pearl was designed as a "pocket" phone more than a holstered PDA. Though there are several settings (primarily in profiles) which refer to holstered/unholstered.

Also, you can put the phone into sleep/battery saver mode by pressing and holding down the mute key (silver button on top). Again, this is intended for use in pocket - locks the keys, saves battery life, but phone still active.

I just got mine, and am moderately happy with just using my pocket, though a holster would be nice.

I'd give it about a week and the aftermarket companies will be falling all over themselves to offer us the "perfect accessory" for our shiney new Pearls: The Ultimate Holsterxxx8482;. There will be so many choices we're gonna need an online review of them to figure out which one we want.

The TMo store where I bought mine yesterday offered me a pretty generic holster for 19.99 for the 8100. Not sure if has a magnet/sleep thing.

The leather SDA holster bby tmobile will work with the 8100, it is actually a perfect fit. The case works with sleeper mode PERFECTLY as well. It is a good stop gap solution.

i have an 8100 case i bought at the t-mobile store for $20... the magnet does engage sleep mode if you put the phone in top down and keys towards the back...

the belt clip is quite sturdy, and the magnet holds the strap in place. it's pretty decent for $20
