Default Buddy dropped bold in milk....

Please Login to Remove!

My buddy dropped his Bold in a bowl of cereal. He removed battery and let dried for several days. Everything except the mic works perfectly. The mic still works a little but he has to yell for the person on the other end to hear him. When he does yell you can only barely hear him. Does the mic need to be replaced? Is this a diy thing or should he take it in to get it replaced? If he does need to take it in anyone have an guess on the cost? Thanks in advance.

Won't be covered by warranty, but maybe by insurance if he/she has it. It will cost whatever the carrier charges for replacement, probably full retail.

Ok, I got a radical treatment that has gotten me a BlackBerry that dropped in the sea.

Its not guaranteed, but you can only gain at this point.

First, drop the phone in a bowl of distilled water, as having the milk dry in the device is not good. With distilled water there's nothing to leave behind when it dries. Leave it for about 10 seconds.

Now drop the device in a bowl of dry uncooked rice and leave it for 2-3 days.

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO REMOVE THE BATTERY BEFORE BEGINNING!!!

From bbrepairshop.com, it'll cost ya $80. That could be cheaper than your deductible.

Just curious, is there any reason it has to be uncooked dry rice?

You want the rice to absorb the moisture, and uncooked (dry) rice does that best.

Cooked rice, not so much, actually not at all
