Isn't it already available to download, many of us got it like over a month ago...or am I missing something here?

Goran, you missed the "Vodafone DE" will be releasing... official release, not a beta. Same difference for the file, really, but official.

Looks like Bell Mobility beat Vodafone to it!

That's what I'm wondering, I mean it's been ok as a beta OS, seems to have some bugs still, and some things missing, VVM for example was missing in the beta. The certificates were out of date and made it impossible to use some banking apps, Bing application doesn't work on it, etc. Has all this been fixed with the "Official" release of the same OS? I hope so, if so, I'll gladly re-install it, other than that, I've liked 411 fairly well for the most part.

No, the "Beta" and "oficial release" are the same.

I've been running 411 for weeks, and overall, it's pretty darn good. I cannot believe it went GA though, with the camera and a few other very evident bugs. They could not have been that difficult for RIM to resolve.

Any improvement in battery life? Previous v5 beta releases were awful on battery life.

I had a weird occurrence today trying to update a brand new out of the box 9000 - the LOADER would not allow me to upgrade it from 4.6 to 5.0 as it said it was not compatible with my handset. I've been upgrading my own 9000 for months with no issues, but this one is the first since then that I've tried.

I tried upgrading to a later 4.6, which it accepted, but it still wouldn't accept 5.0

In the end I performed a "bricked mode" install, or whatever you call it, where you catch the handset as it starts up when it shows as PIN:UNKNOWN in LOADER. That did the trick and it's now on 5.0

I thought I'd add my experience to the forums in case anyone else has a similar issue. Strangely a new 8900 out of the box yesterday also with 4.6 was quite happy to accept 5.0

You will likely need to define "a fit". But you can extrapolate the answer to your question by reading over this thread and also the one here http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ast-asian.html. Look at each persons carrier and what they report.

I doubt anyone is keeping a tally of what is wrong with each carrier. Not to mention, what one may consider "a fit" may not be "a fit" for another.

Probably goes without saying, but several people seem to think that the missing VVM files are a bug or sign of poor testing -- but Bell Canada does not have VVM, so it's omission in it's official release makes perfect sense.

To get VVM working for your network, use the VMM files from a previous release of an OS that had VMM, as we are doing now.

One weird thing about .411 beta is when I use QuickPull app or when I just simply pull the battery my battery life actually decreases significantly. For example, before battery pull my battery life is at 65% BUT after battery pull everything loads up and my battery is down to like 50%, just weird in my opinion.

I have been updating my various berries over the years with official releases and betas quite successfully, but I had never dealt with CrackUtil or swiss army knife. I was eager to update to 5.0 and took the plunge to recover the Berry browser and that very handy visual voice mail. I followed the instructions exactly, and now my beloved Bold is sporting 5.0.0.411 complete with VVM and the berry browser. My only frustration thus far is that RIM felt the need to change Profiles to Sounds, thereby eliminating the F keyboard shortcut.

Just wanted to say thank you to those who take the time to post great tips like restoring VVM and the browser!

Bell does have VVM. They advertise it in the Bell Magazine that just showed up in my mail and I also got a text from them telling me how to set it up. I have no desire to subscribe, so I just deleted the text.
