Phone numbers not appearing on user account profile on BES version 4.1

Rookie BES support specialist need to understand how a few users are on the BES and their mobile phone number is missing? How are they able to make contact? Thank you.
We had that issue with a few users, but Alltel doesn't use SIM Cards. Now we're on BEs 5.0 and I haven't gone looking for if those users are still missing the phone numbers in their 'profile' on the server.
