I have a quick question a company was getting rid of there blackberrys so i got a coulpe of them. They are cingular blackberry 8700c. My question is they are locked. If i plan on using cingluar with this cingluar phone do i still have to pay money to get the phone unlocked. seeing as that most people are getting theres unlocked to use a different provider of travel overseas and im not doing either of these. Could i call cingluar and they will do this for me?

No. If you plan to use at&t, you do not need to get the unit unlocked.

After 10 tries it will wipe all of the previous user's data off and you can reset the password for you to use.

The lock you're referring to is not the lock everyone else is. You're referring to a password, and any other reference to a lock is to a SIM lock.

Is it really that simple to get it going???? I think once you have exhausted the 10 attempts at unlocking a device security option, you will have to call Provider's tech support to get a master reset code which will unlock the device and at the same time wiping out the device. . .

Are you referring to SMS or email? if email, you need to sign-up for Blackberry plan and set-up BIS then you need to get Service Book sent to you device.

If you're trying to MMS you need a Blackberry data plan. If you're trying to SMS then contact your carrier and make sure that you're properly provisioned for SMS.

Nope. It just wipes the device. The wipe, however, will not remove any IT policies.

Just hope that it hasn't been reported as lost or stolen. Can't be activated it that is the case.
