Thumbs up 4.1 OS for 7100/7290 Courtesty of Pinstack.com

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, I have browsed through some of the posts, and I see a ton of people wanting to know where they can get 4.1 that ISN'T the Hong Kong version with all of the bugs and the Illegal Exceptions, ablility to use themes only for 4.1 etc, so rather then go through post by post, I searched and didn't see it here, so here is PROVEN 4.1 C&W link for the downloads courtesy of our friends at pinstack.com.

http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...ighlight=C%26W

Follow this link and it shows where to get the download from and how to properly install 4.1.

If you have any problems, please feel free to ask and I will assist in any way that I can...

BTW, I am running this download on my 7105T (Tmobile) and have not encountered any problems with it whatsoever, and it fixed all the problems that I had that I am seeing other people post that they have.

no offense, but considering C&W has about the same amount of personnel in their quality control department as CSL (probably less), its doubtful that 'fixes' were present in the SAME OS installation version between these two carriers.

the 'fixes' that people claim are likely the result of simple reinstallation of the OS. it's not a newer version than the HK version (or any other .210 version). when you see versions released from Cingular, T-Mobile, Rogers, etc., the carriers with quality control departments and personnel, then you will start seeing fixes. and this does not mean that the fixes will address issues such as BBCorrector or some other third party application that worked for 4.0 but not 4.1.

just my two cents.

You may be right, however when I was trying to get 4.1 from HK, I tried to download it and install in into my BB 3 seperate times, with 3 seperate and fresh downloads, and they all resulted in the same errors (ie IllegalException blah blah and the same programs not working). After installing the C&W version and rebooting just once, there were no longer error messages and everything has worked flawless.

From reading on this board and others, people are obviously having problems with the HK version because there have been numerous instances of people trying the same thing (Fresh downloads/installs) and recieving the same results, however once they tried the C&W, they were no longer experiencing these problems.

I am not going to get into a debate with anyone about which version is more stable or has less bugs. I am simply stating from my personal trial and error experience and those of others.

For those people who are experiencing these difficulties right now and they are not getting results from what they have been trying, this can be a fix for them. If it doesn't work, then nothing was lost except 30 minutes of someones times.

If anyone who is experiencing these same things, please feel free to chime in, but like I said before, I am not going to get into a debate about which is better and more stable. I don't have the time for that.

Which call log issue? The case of the disappearing logs?

"I spoke with T-Mobile BB Specialist they were bogged, so they transferred me over to RIM, I explained the issue to “Tim” who works for RIM. LOL All the way in Canada!!! WOW!!! He said to check my status and yes I was a download freak I was putting everything on the BB. Turns out it was out of memory… So it kept deleting the logs to make room I was told technically speaking the BB needs at least 2MB of memory to run all software efficiently!!...So this is the steps.

Go to: Tools, Options, Status.
What does file free say??? Mine was (0) Bytes…
So he advised me to take some things off that I don’t really need. Then pull the battery out (Reboot) and when I get to the home screen use the Desktop Manager> Backup> Advance Options and delete the things I deleted on the BB permanently. I have not had any issues since. And he gave me a case number and a phone number directly to RIM and said if the problem still keeps happening then it is a problem with the BB and I will be issued another one."

A simple rule of thumb ... if a third-party application doesn't work correctly after upgrading the OS to a major version (or even just a minor version increment), uninstall said application(s), install OS from scratch, reinstall application on new OS.
