What's happenin'?! Just picked up a bb8100 in white @ tmobile and extended my contract 2 more years. Still getting the hang of texting. I bought the 8100 without alternating my previous contract so i dont have any web broser or any of those special features that cost extra. What features do you guys recommend me getting? Cause i guess its like buying a smart phone without using its features. I for sure want GPS.

thanks,
bolistik

Welcome to the forums bolistik! I hope that you enjoy your new device. There are still somethings that you can do if you have some sort of internet plan. Here is a link with some great info on what you do without a BB Data Plan! Enjoy!

The 8100 does not have built in GPS. You will need to buy a puck (Freedom makes a fob that's about the size of a car clicker). The you can use Google maps.

Welcome to the forums.

Unfortunatly, you can't do much with GPS even with a bluetooth puck unless you have a data plan. All the maps are pulled off the data network as needed.

I couldnt find this in the faqs.

Is there a way to show the picture of the incoming caller? I've tooken individual pictures of people in my address book and stored them accordingly. But whenever i get an incoming call, it only shows their caller ID number and name.

You can do this in the address book for each contact.

OP states that he did this for each contact.

Does their address book name come up when you receive a call or just their number?

Are you using SureType or Multi-tap? Do you have an "ABC" in the top right corner?

SureType if off. ABC is on the top right. Im not typeing too fast or anything. I'm clicking the buttons twice to get to the next letter. i look at the key pad and type what i want to say and i know for sure that im hitting each letters accordingly with out looking at the LCD screen.

heres another example that i just did. "the quick fox jumped over the lazy dog"

typeing it without looking at the LCD screen but making sure that im hitting each letters accordingly,.. it came out like this...

"the quick ddox jumooed over the lazy dog"

Try changing your Key Rate:

Menu>options>Screen/keyboard> Key Rate (= Fast, normal, slow).

Well what happens when you change it to "Fast"?

Have you by chance tried a hard reset? (Battery Pull while the device is on?)
It might just clear it.
