Default 4.5 to 4.1

Is there any way how to run my program (created at JDE 4.5) on the device with OS 4.1 ?
Or I have to forget about JDE 4.5 and switch to 4.1, because there are no available software download for Bell Mobility Inc. newer 4.1 for my device (7250) and newer 4.3 for any others.

Thanks.

Hi!

The answer is (as so many are): It Depends.

There are a number of API calls that can be made in 4.5 that do not exist in 4.1. As a result, applications built using a JDE of a later & greater version than the device you wish to run it on must restrict themselves to the earlier API calls. This can prove ..... challenging. I am less certain of API calls that can be made in 4.1 that cannot be executed in 4.5, but then the 4.5 JDE won't compile those anyway.

Cheers,

karl

thanks for this thought!
I realized I do not use any new API, so I just built COD file in the JDE 4.1 and that's it.
Only one thing - signature tool doesn't work in the downloaded JDE 4.1. But I don't mind to sign COD in the JDE 4.5

Default Signature Tools

Hi!

I actually don't use the JDE's signature tool, but I have a vague recollection of running into the "why doesn't the 4.1 signature tool work?" question.

Because I work in a team environment, the signature tool I use is available on a server machine that we can all RemoteDesktop into, so that no one of us is stuck doing all the signings (or waiting to use the machine of the person who does!).

Cheers,

karl
