No mention of WiFi but a 2 mega pixel camera. I'm glad they didn't cheap out with the 1.3 mega pixel and 4 Gig Micro SD, I'll let go of the WiFi.

Default SAR values?

SAR values in more recent Blackberry handsets have been going up and up and are getting closer to the SAR 1.6 FCC safety margin. How does the Curve compare? Been clinging to my 7290 only because I want a phone that doesn't radiate my brains out. I'm aware that users in the US are less aware of the issue than those in Europe, but perhaps someone knows anyway.

I will sell my unlocked Rogers BlackBerry 8800r, and purchase the new Rogers BlackBerry Curve 8300.

Can anyone provide a price for the BlackBerry Curve 8300 on a contract, and no contract?

Well, never mind: "According to FCC radiation tests, the BlackBerry 8300 has a digital SAR rating of 1.51 watts per kilogram." - just saw that on CNET.

You've gotta be kidding me - 1.51? That's only .09 below the maximum allowed by law. That makes the 8300 the worst RIM handset yet in terms of brain-frying cabability.

I think there are plenty of additions to this device over current models, however I am right in line w/Stinsonddog! Biggest change or news has to be the new Media Manager!

This thing looks amazing.

I cannot wait to get my hands on one, even if it just a test model.

Maybe I'm naive, but I was hoping the camera would take video as well as stills. No WiFi. No GPS without a bt receiver. The only feature added from the 8800 is the camera. :( It's Poppa Bear or nothing for me.

We should not be mean and rub it in that WE with Cingular are getting this phone. We should be polite and care about our fellow forum members!

BB modfications come in only two ways plus a static choice of keyboards. You have QWERTY and Suretype, then you can change the form factor like this model and a hardware feature like a camera. Biggest change here is a camera on a QWERTY model. What's left - OS changes - so you get built in spell checking. That's it folks - GPS is external only and don't expect one with internal GPS (that would kill the 8800). All else is OS driven. So if you want QWERTY and a camera this is for you. If you want GPS get an 8800. If you want Suretype get an 8100.

From my read the new media manager will work with all devices with the requisite OS.

**Requires BlackBerry Desktop software v4.2 Service Pack 2
