The answer really depends on what features you want v. what features may, I say again "may," be on the 8300. I am changing to a BB from a WM 2003 device, and have decided to wait to at least confirm what features will be included on the 8300.

From what I understand, the 8300 will have a camera and WiFi. I would like both of these, even in a business enviornment (camera debate goes here). I already have GPS (one portable, one in dash) in my cars, so that is a non-issue for me. It is really important to other people, however, who want to move from car to car to rental without moving a GPS unit in addition to the phone.

I want a camera because I use images on files so that when I receive a call, I can also see the person. It helps me remember the client. When the file is scanned, I am able to pull up the photo or attach it to a contact.

If I were you, I would wait. Research what people feel will be on the 8300, and decide if it is for you. These are great problems to have!

I'm only waiting for the 83xx on Tmo because of the kb and form factor. I don't care about GPS or cam.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Tmo will get 90 day exclusive...from what my tmo guy told me, that's why 8800 is not going to be sold in retail stores....may 24 will be the day us tmoers rock the 8300. If I were you I would wait it out for cing release.

8800 at T-Mo will be around $450 activated with activation according to the phone rep I talked to today. Is there any reason to expect that the "consumer oriented" 8300 will be cheaper, even though it's at least as technically advanced?

i hope you guys are ready to be dissappointed because sprint is getting the 8300 first. T-mo is getting the 8800 soon and not the 8300.

What do you base this prediction on?
So far everything on the 8300 is pure speculation.

I think it's backwards. The 8300 is the upgrade from the 8800.

But yes, the 8300 is going to be the king of all Blackberries.

8800 will be available for tmobile this Monday, April 24. I don't think RIM will release the 8300 right after the 8800. But I think I will wait for the 8300.

tmo is releasing 8800 but not in retail stores. they will be featuring 8300 in late may as their next blackberry.

Neither is an "upgrade" any more than going from a SureType BB to a non-Suretype BB is an "upgrade". They're for different niches. It's just that now we have three lines (SureType with camera, full qwerty with camera, & full qwerty without camera) to choose from instead of two. The model numbers are just there to differentiate the models and lines. It doesn't mean that the 88XX's are any "better" than the 83XX's or 81XX's. "Better" is whatever fits your needs best (as it is with anything in life). A camera-equipped BB isn't an upgrade if you have no need for the camera or can't carry it with you due to facility security regulations.

GPS is the most important to me so if the first 8300 model does not come with GPS then I think the 8800 is what I am going to do.

Default Was going to wait but...

My 7100T decided to go completely kaboom today -

Pretty colored vertical lines all over my screen..

Guess I'll take that as a sign that I was destined to get an 8800 instead of an 8300.. - Oh well..

Of all the people I see and read in this forum, you are probably one of the most practical ones left A 7100t after all the BlackBerry(s) that has been released ever since? I salute you

Most of us, who are CrackBerry Addicts, are never practical. But hey, when does an addict becomes practical anyway I try to be practical though, with the help of my friends here. But it gets hard.. sometimes.

Anyway, because of that, I'll give you a free OEM BlackBerry 8800 Skin in White

Please no more post about Sprint getting the 8300 first, your thread on that topic was already closed, lets try to stay on topic or post it in the rumor section.

Wish I could take credit - but my wife won't let me buy these things too often..

I decided to wait it out - and use her 8100 - at least for a few more weeks..

Thanks anyway!

I too am still chugging away on my 7100t. Passed on the 8700 and 8100, hope I can last to see what features the 83xx may have. The 8800 is now showing up on the tmo website @ $349 .99 with a 2yr contract renewal. Was hoping for a camera and wi-fi......still waiting.
