Question Reinstalling Desktop Software

Please Login to Remove!

I'm needing to reinstall my Desktop Manager and then software for the Blackberry 8310 (AT&T) Should I install Blackberry USB & Modem Drivers and is v5.0 Service Pack 1 (5.0.1) the latest version? Thanks in advance!

I believe it is. I took a look at the downloads offered on the BB.com website and that seems to be the latest available.

I would also install those files. The usb is probably important for synching and charging your device from a computer.

Question

OK, sorry, one more question. I got it installed but now realize the USB cable I'd been using is somehow "jiggly" or loose and the connection isn't staying. Can I use any micro-USB cable or does it have to specifically be a Blackberry issued one?

Thanks!
Jennifer

I have two usb cables for my blackberry, one is the original and the other I got at Wal-mart, I have seen no difference at all, so go ahead!

Not sure it has to be a "blackberry" issued cable. But I know for a fact some are different. I have an extra long one that works with my 8310 but not with my 9000.

You can use any as long as it works. I use the same usb cable for my phone, digital camera, and portable hard drive.

The USB cables come in 4 and 5 pin configurations on the micro end. The 8310 uses the 5 pin type.

Thumbs up

Yeah!! It worked! I used the mini-USB cable that came with my external hard drive and it worked just fine. The thing I appreciate about these forums is that I'm never made to feel like I asked something silly. I have always received kind and helpful responses and it is much appreciated!

I am looking to switch to Verizon and get a Tour, so I'm looking forward to that adventure.

Yay!
We all have different tech levels so one person's simple question may be another's difficult one. So it's not a problem.

It helps that you ask your question intelligently (not having missing vowels in words, using numbers in place of letters, or having a subject line like "HELP!!!!!! Urgent!!!! BB Pro required" for a question that's benign like How Do I Do a Battery Pull?
