Default Help with media (music) files

Please Login to Remove!

I have been uploading songs onto my Blackberry 8110 and the songs that I have brought over from Itunes have gone through no problem. My problem is when I RIP a CD that I have had for years onto my computer to transfer onto my Blackberry, all of the songs show up on my Blackberry as unknown artist and unkown song. I have renamed the files on my hard drive, in Media Manager and by going in and clicking the explore option in my media application and renaming them in the phone. When I go into explore, media card, blackberry and music, all of the files have song titles and artist names.....but when I go into media and music to listen to the songs or to search by artist or song name that way, everything still comes under unkown artist and lists the songs as track 1, track2 etc......this is frustrating....can anyone help? I went into the store and their "tech" couldn't help at all.

Welcome to the BBForums, BufordTJustice (one of my all-time favorite characters!)

Remove the BB from the USB.

Remove the battery from the BB, while it is still powered on.

Get a drink. Replace the Battery, look again, I bet the names are right now.

It's magic.

Why not just go to property tab of the music file on your computer, go to summary and input the information there? Then put it back into your blackberry, I'm pretty sure that would help instead of trying to change in from your BB.

By the way welcome to BlackBerryForums!

usually when you rip files from a cd they willl be in .WMA format, and the blackberry wont recognize the format. Your best bet is converting to MP3.

Thanks for all of the advise. The quote above from n3kuh is what I ended up doing to get it to work. Thanks for all of the help. Nice to see a friendly forum......buford

Smile Music File Issue With 8110

Hi all i have an issue with importing music files onto my media card on the 8110 i convert the files to mp3 fine no problem, When I drag the files onto the card using the blackberry software most tracks are ok.

Some go on without problems but some have no timecode and others come up with an error message that they are in a format not supported by the device as well as no timecode, even though they are in exactly the same format as the other tracks that have copied ok.

when trying to play them the unable to play unsupported format error message comes up and the track is skipped to the next one, can anyone help me is there a solution to this as i like the phone and dont want to get rid if it ANY HELP VERY MUCH APPRECIATED THANKS

PS:Have tried vodafone "technical support" with no joy all they do is help with settings on phones their staff have no real technical knowledge at least thats what i was told by them
