I have the 8800 and never looked back. The 8300 looks like the 8700. The 8800 is small and solid. The features aren't worth it to me. If you keep waiting then you will say should i wait for the 99xx, or xxxx. If you like 1, buy it.

I love the camera and WIFI way more than just GPS. I'm waiting for the 8320 but I hope they scrap that silver color and keep with the original navy blue.

so im in the same place here, i have the 8700c and im not sure if i should wait for the 8300 or buy the 8800? clearly the main difference is the camera but other than that is there any real reason to wait for the 8300? if those shots that are already out are the final model of the 8300, i genuinely dont like the look of it, i prefer the look of the 8300.

other than the camera and the more comfortable looking keyboard (maybe), is there any other real reason to wait? i mean the 8800 is thinner, slicker looking, has GPS (probably wouldnt use too much, but still cool) and it looks nicer in my opinion..

what is one to do!!! what are you all doing/what are your main reasonings for waiting out

I have the 8800 and find the keyboard a big improvement over the 8700c. It's much faster. However it's still fairly big even though it's very thin.

Here are the sizes for comparison:
114 x 66 x 14.0mm - 8800

106 x 60 x 15.5mm - 8300

I'm going to buy an 8300, for the overall size. Also although it's 6mm narrower it appears to have very well designed keys that are spaced apart. So I'm thinking that perhaps it will be one of the better keyboards.

What I've learned now that I have the 8100, 8700c, 8800 is that it's not so much the size of the keys but more importantly the shape and spacing. I like the keys on the 8100 much better than the 8700, even though they are smaller. They have a good shape and are not an odd, vertical surface like the 8700c.

I also have a 7130c and the individually spaced keys are something that I prefer. I like the more rounded corners of the 8300, as I do the increase in thickness from 14.0mm of the 8800 to 15.5mm for the 8300. The 8800 in my large hands gets a bit tiring to hold as it's so thin. My 7130 is 18mm thick and that's certainly not objectionable.

I have no need for GPS or a camera or media player for that matter, however if the 8300 is better ergonomically as far as how fast I can type, and if it turns out to have a better feel in my hands because of the more rounded corners that will be a big plus as well.

Also because of the way it's designed it may not have the creaks that are heard from the 8800. After looking very carefully at the latest, very clear pictures of the 8300, It's looking as though it may be the best to date.

I still love my 7105t. I had the Pearl but sold it in preparation for the 8800, then decided to wait it out and see the 8300 before making any decision. Back on my 7105t and I just love this thing. Size and feel are great. The Pearl had a better version of SureType but I'm not a power user so it's no big deal to me.

I think you made a wise move in waiting for the 8300. I have an 8800 and it's a really great model for my work needs, however I like the shape of the 8300 better as well as the fact that it's just a bit thicker. I find the 8800 a bit too thin for my tastes. I am a power user and must use it for work. The fact that I handle a lot of email really makes a difference and therefore, I'm probably more sensitive to the keyboard than if I did not handle over 60 emails a day on the BB.

While I certainly do not regret purchasing the 8800, I also believe based on the pictures I've seen, that the keyboard on the 8300 will suit me better even though it will be somewhat smaller. I tend to prefer individual keys that have a bit of spacing between them. This is why I like the 7130c so much.

Only time will tell, however after very close scrutiny of the newest (and clearest) pictures of the 8300, I'm thinking this may be the best of the 8xxx series yet.

Cheers...
