Default AT&T BIS Help

I have a question regarding the BIS service through at&t.

I recently got a new curve from my work, so I had no need for my personal 8310. I dropped the blackberry plan off my account and I put the phone in its box.

A few days ago I gave my phone to a friend who needed one. He signed up at his local at&t and got it activated with a new sim card. The phone works good except he cannot get an email account for the phone (mine was my name at blackberry dot att dot net)

When someone sent me an email to that address it went to my phone and I could reply through that account. I set it up through at&t's Blackberry internet service web page.

I have deleted my account but when my friend tries to register the blackberry with the pin and imei, it wont let them. It says it is already registered.

I have tried at&t stores and att customer service to no avail. Has anyone ran into this when they got rid of their old phone?? I figured someone on here must have.

Thank you very much for your time

Eric

You have not removed the PIN from your BIS account on ATT. You must do so with ATT, or your friend needs to ask.

I will call them right now. Thank you very much. It seems like most of the people here know more than the at&t people and the rim people put together. Once my old pin is deactivated he can get a new one and register it, correct?

I really appreciate people here that take the time to help out.

The PIN follows the device so once it's un-associated with your AT&T account he can set it up with his.

Yes, that will deactivate the device on your account, as Sgt says.

RIM is pretty good. at&t is hit-and-miss. Sometimes you have to try several times before you get a CSR that knows what to do.
