Question User Migration - "ERROR: DestUserConfigIdIsAvailable, The UserId cannot be preserved"

Please Login to Remove!

When using the Enterprise Transporter to migrate users from a source BES 4.1 SP6 configuration database to the destination BES 4.1 SP6 configuration database, the migration fails:-

(11/20 15:04:22.884):{0x0460:9} [INFO] {<user_name@domain>} Validating user data
(11/20 15:04:22.884):{0x0460:9} [ERROR] {<user_name@domain>} ERROR: DestUserConfigIdIsAvailable, The UserId cannot be preserved
(11/20 15:04:22.884):{0x0460:9} [ERROR] {<user_name@domain>} *** User has invalid data and will not be migrated ***
(11/20 15:04:22.884):{0x0460:9} [ERROR] {<user_name@domain>} Validation failed for user, TransId=2

Source: KB20191-The error "DestUserConfigIdIsAvailable, The UserId cannot be preserved" is displayed when migrating users using the BlackBerry Enterprise Transporter Tool

KB20191 suggests that the users need to be removed and re-activate. Is there any workaround? Can we amend the SQLID on the source server's user records? Anybody has this error before and found a workaround instead of having to remove the user and re-EA?

Never had that error before. Maybe you can get the end user to delete the Desktop [SYNC] service book and then you push it out again from the Source Server. It's almost the same as reactivating. *shrug*

It works. I have migrated some 60% users already, except 40% of them who have SQLIDs that already exist in the destination server's BESMgmt. That's why it's complaining. I wonder if my destination is a BES 5.0 will a crash of similar SQLID between the source and destination be resolved?

To illustrate the problem clearer, let me give examples:

Source Server
==============
- User_Peter | SQLID=785
- User_Mary | SQLID=820

Destination Server
==============
- User_John | SQL=820
- User_Nelson | SQL=888

I'm able to migrate User_Peter as SQLID=785 is not appearing in destination server.

I'm not able to migrate User_Mary (SQLID=820) because destination server has User_John who already tagged with SQLID=820.

Ok, after some deeper Google, I found my answer. Yes, indeed destination needs to be BES 5.0. I will migrate these 40% once this existing destination BES 4.1.6 is cutover to the new better hardware and upgraded to BES 5.0.
