Angry Syncing my BB to work email????

Please Login to Remove!

IT is telling me that they do not support Blackberry's, but know a few people who have a Blackberry and were able to recieve their emails on their phone. They tell me all they did was plug their phone into the PC and downloaded some applications. If my work doesn't support BB is this possible? If so, how easy is it to do?

I would not go against what your IT department is telling you. If they wanted you to download and install programs, they would have instructed you in the proper way.

So they say they dont support it, but that they did something to other peoples BB's to allow it?

If your company doesn't have a BES server, you can "redirect" from your Microsoft exchange. It is not sync in anyway, just forwarding but you need to leave you computer on to get it to work.

If you can access your work email via Outlook Web Access (OWA), then you should be able to set up your email via BIS.

If the company has BES and will not allow you to access it, then there isn't much you can do. As said above, if they allow POP access, then you might be able to get it via BIS.

You might want to ask them for more details then. Downloading apps won't get you email. We could speculate until the cows come home but you need to find out what your options are for accessing work email. Is POP, IMAP, or OWA an option? Or did they have to forward email?

Again, depends on your options. Without knowing what they are it's impossible to say. Odds are pretty easy if one of the options above is available to you.

As stated above, with any of the options above you won't be syncing mail. BB's don't sync email anyway. They push and (in some cases) reconcile. It's not the same thing as sync.
