How do I bypass this to turn on my BB, I got it from my father once he was through with it, now that I have it I am trying to simply power it on and all it reads is that error message, I put the sim in both ways and got the same error. I cant download any new firmware either because I dont have the Cd's and its difficult to do with a dead unit

I would recommend installing the Desktop Manager software, and the specific Handheld software for the handheld version you have. Once that is complete you should be able to open Desktop Manager, go to Application Loader and reload the handheld (even with the error on the screen).

If you still can't connect, there are tools out there like javaloader that can wipe the device at a low level which might get you to the point where you could app load it.
