Thumbs up Cellfire - Mobile Coupons; Requesting Feedback

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there,

Long time lurker, first time poster. Looking to get some feedback on the Blackberry versions of the Cellfire app. It seems you all are very sharp and know exactly what you want out of your software. Tell me what you like, what you didn't like, your suggestions, anything I'm all ears!

Here's a quick rundown of what Cellfire is and how it works:
Cellfire is a free app that let's you save valuable coupons on your BlackBerry device. Users get their own set of discounts and offers specific to their geographic location. To redeem an offer, the user simply selects an offer they want to use and the app will display a code. Then you show your phone to the cashier and get your discount!

We have several different versions available here for direct download:

blackberry 7100

blackberry 7100i

blackberry 7130

blackberry 7250

blackberry 7290

blackberry 7520

blackberry 8100

blackberry 8300

blackberry 8700

blackberry 8703e

blackberry 8800

blackberry 8830

You can also get Cellfire by going to cellfire.com on your BlackBerry's browser.

If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email or PM!

Regards,
Danny

I went to cellfire.com from my 8820 and registered but never got any download/app, is it just a mobile webpage that you use or an actual BB app?

ixtab, it is an actual mobile app. Can you explain what happened after you registered?

Once I registered I was redirected to a page with 3-4 offers and a next link, the next link showed a few more offers and a back link.
That's it.

That is probably what I am looking for, but not what I'm getting when I go to Cellfire.com from my Blackberry 8820. I keep getting the Cellfire Express page.
Could it be that the 8820 is not recognized as a valid device?
I don't see an 8820 on the list of downloads you published above.

Ah yes, the 8820 is not on the supported device list yet. I believe there will be a release for that device shortly. Cellfire express is the WAP version of the product. It supports all the other phones that are not on the "list" and are WAP enabled.

i love the coupon idea. the drawback is that i have to abide with your contract about using my contact information thru e-mail or phone. this make me think if this could be "cookies" to collect my private e-mail address on my bb and my phone number? if i don't agree with the contract then it offers me how to uninstalling cellfire application on menus. i didn't see anything but only select "OK" or "ClOSE" on menu. since i don't want cellfire to use my bb e-mail address or phone # as marketing purpose, etc so i had to go Options>Advanced Options>Applications>scroll to select "Cellfire">click on menu to select "Delete" in order to remove cellfire application manually.

if you add alteration e-mail address as second choice for me to enter my choice of e-mail address for contact information like you did add the zip and birthday for me to enter. then i will be glad to reinstall cellfire application on my BB. otherwise i begin to think is this cookie able to collect my private phone # and e-mail address. hope it helps to answer your question.

you know how people dislike the idea of sharing our private bb e-mail address to the marketing since i will be paged all the time with junk e-mails come in. that is why i separate one urgent e-mail on bb for private personal only and second one public e-mail to my general computer.

I had the same exact reaction as cuong. The idea is a good one, but I got to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy and decided that I don't want to receive "...notices and marketing communications by email or other ways..." on my business BB. I definitely don't want text messages (extra charges), and I'm not sure I want emails going to my personal email address. Who would get my personal information and how many emails would I get?

cuong and d213rr, thanks you so much for the feedback. This is exactly what we are looking for. You can read the privacy policy but I'll make it short and sweet for you guys. All of our communications come with an option to opt out. The maximum number of SMS msgs you could receive in a month is 4. Typically we send 1 a month MAYBE 2. Email is about the same frequency, 1 a month MAYBE 2.

We do NOT sell or misuse any of your information. Cellfire respects your privacy. It's something we take very seriously. There are NO cookies or keyloggers of any sort. The only information we have is what you provide to us and again, all of our communications come with the option to opt out. If anyone encounters any issues with this, I can be contacted directly and I will handle your case personally.

Danny

ixtab, I've been told that the 8830 or 8800 client should work on your 8820. Please give that a try.

Danny, is there an OTA download for the 8800/8830? when I get on the website it doesn't identify my 8820 and does not present an OTA option.
Thanks

OTA will not be available for your 8820 yet. We have something special for 8820 users in the near future.

Default Best coupons depend on age

Just an FYI on Cellfire... They give the best coupons (ones form P&G, etc.) to the age group of 24 to 34. So, when you sign up make sure to make yourself in that age range.
