Default Setting up your blackberry as a modem

Please Login to Remove!

Does it cost anything for setting up your blackberry as modem? Anyone know? If there is a way please tell me that something is free using a blackberry.

Ok as long as you have the unlimeted data package for your BB then this is free.

Sprint PCS Software: Sprint PCS Connection Manager Software from Sprint

In the drop down list, select the operating system OF YOUR LAPTOP/DESKTOP (not your Blackberry device), and download "Sprint PCS Connection Manager for Phone as Modem/USB Cables."

Then, install the software. During the installation process, you'll have multiple options for isntalling drivers. Just make sure the Blackberry drivers are checked.

restart your computer and that should be it. From then on, you can connect by launching the connection manager, connecting your 8703e, and clicking on "Go."

I use it on my laptop all the time, Speeds are faster then one of those cards you can get from a carrier.

You need the $15.00 per month tethering plan in addition to your BlackBerry Data Plan if you're a verizon subscriber.
There is no way around that.

I found that out the hard way when I tried to tether one day and called up for support and they said "well you don't have this" ... after tethering for months without a problem ... ahh Verizon you tricky fellers!

However ... wouldn't this get around the charge? MobiShark? I know its not the exact functionality as tethering, but for most people it would work ... I'm debating on trying it out.

So I'm looking for a modem/tether solution to avoid paying $15/mo on top of my unlimited data plan. Was wondering if you tried MobiShark and if so what you thought. thx, KZ

You won't find one if you're on Verizon. Verizon requires the $15 tethering option.
Also, there's no 8800 on Verizon. You might want to consider altering your profile.
