Yes, unless you have TMobile AND subscribe to the MyFaves service then it's useless.

You're the BlackBerry Support Agent but don't know what the basic functions in the Desktop Manager are? Honestly, they are pretty self-explanatory.

The Email Settings will be hidden if the DM is not installed for BES or Redirector.

Wirelessly posted (8100 Pearl)

So to have that icon not hidden I only have to reinstall the DM as for BES?

Thank you

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

It ONLY works for BES/Redirector email accounts. If you're using BIS you don't need it as you manage your email from the device itself or from the web on your PC

You have to do it from your carrier's BIS website.

I can't manage to do that because I can't login to their webiste because when I try to retrieve the login/pass for my account, I recive a message on my BB from my carrier that informs me that I can't login to their website and that I must connect with the BB to access the email settings, and from there I am not able to edit the signature.

why all this??

thank you all!

I think you can buy a thirdparty app available on most of the BB online app shops that enables the use of the external memory (microSD in most cases) for the devices stuff, and I think it works even for emails and logs.

No, those apps only allow you to install "from" the media card. You load the app onto the media card and install it to the device from the card. You can do that already without an app. They are a waste of money.

Got my Sprint Curve 8830 upgraded to 4.5.0.97! Thanks John! But alas I must have done something as the font are white everywhere and hard to read. I followed your procedure and I wondered if there was a file/s I should have not taken out? I canxxx8217;t open the options/screen/keyboard to work. When I click on it nothing happened. Anyone know why or which file/s?

Thanks!
JP

Maybe I may have overlooked some posts, but has anyone successfully figured out how to do this with preinstalled media on the BOLD? I have had success with other Blackberry models, but currently going through a very difficult time with the BOLD. I've deleted all the .cod reletated to preinstalled media such as wallpaper, but they still show up once the OS completes loading itself into the device. Or is doing this not possible at this time?

about the memory app, I thought that it could be able to use the microSD to store address book, logs, messsages and emails.

Default Really? I followed everything on my 8120---its still happening once a week

I followed everything here on my Tmobile 8120 running 4.3.1.115(190)/2.6.0.64. I am losing everything (call logs/email/sms/facebook) every week. My memory wavers around 5000000-12000000 bytes free. A 30 second battery pull only gives me 12000000 free. I regularly wipe the Browser cache and Opera history.

Apps installed include Google maps, Gmail, Viigo, Opera, Facebook, Twitterberry, Softreset, GoogleTalk, BrickBreaker, Texas Hold'em III, Hearts, Asteroid Jane --- not a lot IMO.

So what gives? I had a TMobile 8100 before this and it happened like every six months....Is an OS upgrade to 4.5 going to help? Other than the memory issue I have no other problems with my OS and do not want to upgrade to something not TMobile approved - too many nightmares when I upgraded every time a new OS came out on my old 8100.

PLEASE HELP!!!

So did I do this out of order?

Yesterday I upgraded my the OS on my Bold from the stock AT&T .167 to .190

Today I came across this thread and was looking to try to get rid of unnecessary stuff. I moved the large .cod files for "medialoader backgrounds" and "medialoader music" to the "removed modules" folder. Then I ran apploader, but it appears to not have removed the sample wallpapers or music from my phone. Can these be removed at this point? Or can it only be done for a clean install of the OS?

Default "device not found"

Hello,

I am attempting to complete this process; however, the desktop manager is giving me trouble when connecting my device. I dl'd and installed the OS
(4.3) to my PC. When I attempted a backup, DM would not recognize my
8330. I then uninstalled and reinstalled DM and it recognized my device but I could not find the "shared folder". I had to reinstall the OS to my PC and was able to complete the steps that are outlined but when I connected my device the DM would not recognize it. I have tried different cables, rebooted and a battery pull all with no luck. It seems that the installation of the OS is having something to do with this.

Any ideas? Your help is much appreciated!

-JC
