Default iSkoot? Skype-type program?

Please Login to Remove!

I have searched, and know there's no Skype for the blackberry.

I've been perusing iSkoot's website (www.iskoot.com) but can't exactly make out what it is.

I'm looking for (basically) a program like Skype, where it uses data only, not my minutes. I will be in Germany for a while, and would love to have "Skype" so I can connect to a WiFi spot, login and call america for free (or, as skype does, only be charged like $.02/minute).

Does iSkoot do this? Or is it not really a replacement for Skype.

Thanks for any help!

There is no Skype like app that won't use your minutes.
All the ones out there, use your minutes.

Is RIM working with Skype to get Skype? I ask because if Apple allows Skype, what's RIM's deal?

Why would RIM work with Skype? RIM's major customers are the carriers. Not you and not me.

I mean, Skype wasn't allowed to be an app on the iPhone for a while...then I guess Apple approved the program for their phone...

So is it the individual carriers that deny Skype to be allowed on the phone?

(or is my question not making sense or am i mistaken about how skype was allowed for the iphone)

Useless for me. I'd like to be able to call anyone using WiFi, not just my Skype contacts. Many other phones allow that, just not BlackBerry's.

I just seen a tv add for vontage I believe. Said it would do exactly that. You might want to look into that

Vonage.
It's low cost, but not free.
People are looking for FREE Skype.

Yes, he said it was like 0.02 a min or something like that. Vontage is about as close to that stuff I can think of.

Vonage. Not Vontage. They have been around for a while - one of the pioneers on Voice over IP.
