Default Whose BlackBerry has taken the worst beating?

Just curious as to who has the scariest BlackBerry story. I've been pretty lucky so far, I've only dropped mine once and it was from only 2-3ft with a very nice case to cushion the fall. Any pool jumpers out there? Washing machine mishaps? Lawn mowers???

Red face

I well I drop mine at least two to three times a day. It's even fell into the dog's water bowl for a quick second or two. The case has a couple of cracks and I keep intending to replace things. Luckily, the screen hasn't been damaged from all the drops.

i dropped mine once in the eleven months that i've owned it...it hit so hard the trackball popped out :-/ but alas it was fine...all i had to do was pop it back into place...there are a lot of posts on here already about people dropping them in water or getting into pools/oceans with it...too bad for that blackberry...

I dropped my trusty 8830 about 3-4 ft, the back cover went way and the battery went another way. While I was talking about Nomophobia (fear of being without a cell phone) non-the-less.

It seems like the more careful you are with it, the more likely it's bound for disaster! I wonder if anyone's dog has ever chewed their BB to shreds?

A couple of years ago, I was n a traffic accident. The 8100 I was usng at the time tumbled around my car enough that the battery cover and battery both fell out. After I reassembled it, it worked like a champ for several more months, with only some scratches on the battery cover as a reminder.

Same can't be said for the Explorer I was driving at he time, though. It was a total.

I dropped my brand new 4-wk old Pearl into a glass of red wine! what were the chances of that puppy slipping right through the opening of my glass! I guess I was slightly lucky that it went in top-down, so the buttons didn't get wine in them and hence sticky.

Followed the FAQ instructions for 'how to dry out your BB' (altho' clearly the instructions are assuming water! not red wine). Amazingly, it worked. my screen has crystalline markings on it and remnants of red from the wine can be seen but everything works!

I microwaved my Pearl for 60 seconds on high once. It still works just fine.

ndub - while the financial loss on your explorer obviously exceeded what would have been the replacement cost of your 8100, i'm sure there was still something satisfying about your blackberry being virtually unharmed in the wreckage!

cyber - you had me there for a minute lol

Accidentally poored coffee all over my blackberry once. Let it dry for two weeks and still works like it did from day one. I drop mine atleast a couple of times a week, but it always has a seido case on it (now a body glove case) so no scratches or dings.

Have had my 8330 since last may.

i've got a body glove too. LOVE IT! i really like the thick plastic screen cover, and the fact that the keypad is still exposed for easier entry. rubber grip makes it easier to hold too. only downside is having to take the case off to clean the lint/dust that gets underneath the screen cover from time to time, but that's a small price to pay to have zero scratches on the screen whatsoever. GO BODY GLOVE!

I dropped my curve on the sidewalk and the trackball stopped working and the screen had a huge crack in it.

It happened to someone on this forum but I can't remember the details. It was posted a couple of years ago.

Had a user in the field run over his 7520 with a 3/4 ton pickup truck. Other than the keyboard being pushed in a bit and the screen being cracked, the device still worked. We replaced it, of course, but it's a testament to how sturdy those older models were.

I put my 7100i through the snowblower a couple weeks ago.

No idea it fell off my belt.

All of a sudden the pouch, battery and cover come flying out of the chute.

No Phone?

Shut down the blower and looked in the chute, nothing, looked in the front and found the phone wedged in the auger.

Antenna torn off, lots of cracks and big hole in the side, thumbwheel would not move. Screen intact, Sim card still there.

I thought what the heck. I put the battery back in and it booted up! I couldn't do anything with it other than run back up and save my contacts.

That was a first for the store when I went to get a new 8350i.
