Super newbie here so please bear with me. I currently have a family plan with A T & T with three phones on it. My daughter is wanting a BB Curve 8310, but her phone was recently upgraded with the family plan. Does anyone know if I would be able to upgrade one of the other two on the plan and simply switch the SIM card?

Is it possible to have a data plan in conjunction with a family plan?

Yes, I have the family talk plan with 4 lines, and you can take the upgrade from another line and use it with any sim card. I have the Data plan with my 8310 and my other 3 lines don't have a plan. I also have the family unlimited text message plan (I have 2 teens on the plan so that comes in handy).

Thank you very much for the info. I placed the order for it, but will wait until it arrives to add the data plan. If you don't mind my asking which data plan did you choose?

If you had ordered the data plan, it would've been much cheaper. Oh well. Just pick unlimited data, and add messaging, as that's what kids will use also. There is also a $5 parental control plan available to watch limits, and set preferences.

Since I'm using an upgrade from of the other phones in the plan I was reluctant to add the data plan as I thought it would be tied to the phone being upgraded. Oh well...like I said, I'm a super newbie at this!

I have the 29.99 BB connect unlimited data plan.

I thought the same thing. oh well. try calling cust. support and see if they will refund you money for the upgrades for signing on to a new plan. Can't hurt to try.

It would have been added to the upgrade phone. When you get the BB, just call to get the BB assigned to your daughter's phone number and then add the data plan (which will still be $29.99 for unlimited.
