Question Enterprise Activation errors out for 1 user

Please Login to Remove!

Hi - I am new to BES but I have instructions that I follow. I have a new user who starts Monday. I created his AD account, then his exchange account (no one has even used his mailbox to change any settings), and added him to the BES. I then set his activation password: a

I have a BB 8830 that I went to the options > Security > general setting > and wiped the handheld.

I then went to the options > Advanced options > Enterprise activation

I added his email address and the activation password of a. I checked it and redid it many times but it always errored out, "The server is not responding. Please contact your system administrator." Well, I am the administrator!

After many failed attempts I wiped the handheld again and activated the phone using my my email with no problems.

So I checked all his account settings and they didn't vary from working accounts in any way but I deleted him anyway from everywhere and started fresh.

Again no luck. I am sort of panicked. I don't have any other support and another company wants to take over my position.

If it worked for me then why not for him? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

would rebooting the server make a difference? I have those people watching me so I don't want to do it if I don't need to.

What about restarting some services? If so what services?

Does it make a difference that he is a new user? And maybe it took my ID since I'm an existing user?

Please help!!!!!

I'm not sure creating a user, then his mailbox and adding his account to the BES would actually work, only in that the mailbox isn't actually created until an email is sent to it, or it's accessed via OWA or Outlook. In other words, try accessing the account before adding it to BES.

Maybe check to see if his Exchange account is letting BES have access. If you login to the administrator account on BES as BESAdmin for example, see if that has access to the new users account. Better yet, check the accesss on your account and compare with the new user to spot any differences

As per KB13852 mentioned by penguin, it is important to see how far the activation e-mail got.

It is also important that the user has at least once logged into his mailbox with Outlook, so it is properly initialized before you add him to BES and before you activate. Check the MAGT log for any errors.
