I have had a Bold for 16 months and my contract with Orange in UK is up shortly.

My Bold has worked very well but I am torn between the 9700 and the Iphone.

Email is important to me during the day so I am thinking of going for the 9700 but I was wondering is there anyway I could buy an unlocked Iphone and have the best of both worlds?

i've had both 9700 and iphone, the thing that made me leave the iphone was that it sucks as a phone. Dropped calls, people can't hear you well, horrible speakerphone. As a multi media device it rocks, videos to put on it, youtube etc etc. So if you want a phone go for the bb if you want more multi media go for the iphone.

Or better yet, get an ipod touch, and a 9700 for using as a phone.

I'd have to agree with previous posters. Granted, I have only been using my 9700 for 2 days, and came from being an iPhone user for over 2 years. As a phone, the 9700 is superior to the iPhone in terms of call quality, and reception. The speakerphone is also better on the BB, as it is not only louder, but projects a clearer call. As a multimedia device, the iPhone is uncontested. In a head to head comparison, I can't really pick out a clear winner as they both have their pros and cons. I think going with the 9700 would be a safe bet for you though, considering you're coming from a 9000 now. The only difference between having an iPhone and iPod touch are the ability to make calls and not having to be on a wifi network to utilize the web based features.

It would be nice if they made a BlackBerry tethering app for the iPod Touch. Then you could do bluetooth tethering with your BB and access the iPod Touch data anywhere without needing a WiFi connection.

-want multimedia and dont care about multitasking
-do not mind web based GPS
-can get used to typing on the touchscreen
-dont mind being part of the 25 million users that put up with apple and AT&T monopoly

It's not a monopoly anymore. iPhone is available in UK and soon T-Mobile.

Just curious, I have been a long time BB user and have gone back and forth between the Iphone and BB for the past 3 years. Lately I have been just using my Iphone but miss the BB. Im thinking about getting the 9700 but when I leave the Iphone I miss all the apps the aroundme app, google maps and of course the ipod in one device. What made you leave the Iphone and go to the 9700? I think im just a spoiled kid. I just need to make up my mind once and for all, all this back and forth stuff is killing me and my cash flow.

Ive had a I-Phone 3G/32S since August, I migrated from the Bold 9000- Im a AT&T customer.

The I Phone is a Over Sexed Ipod Touch, the only realy plus is instead of carrying 2 full sized devices, its a 2 in one. And it does Hebrew.

The Battery time on the 32S is horrible, I cant go to the toilet without a charger handy. The Email is way different than the Blackberry Phone and it looks like Im going to get a 9700. and get a Touch separately for my music and Multi Media Needs. Oh Yes, then therees Apples Mobile ME, they should seed the "Cloud" with Iodide Crystals and see what happens. I dont like apple, and I certainly dont like Touch Keyboards, not then and not now. Actually my dis-taste for Apple has grown since acquiring the I-Phone.

I need to know if the Phone (9700) does Hebrew, Im not looking for a 3rd party app, it should be accessible through the DT Manager and the Multi Language Pack thats AT&T approved.

Also does anyone know if you can text, or send email on a Commercial Flight that offers WiFi (free) with the 9700, I was not able to do so with the I-Phone.

Would be grateful to anyone who can check for me.

I also thought I would share a smile with you all, I spoke with a AT&T rep last night, when I had all the difficulties with the 9000 Bold, they said, We havent had any real difficulties with the Bold. Last Night when I call to speak to them about the 9700, I got told, it repplaced the 9000 series Bold, we had nothing but big troubles with it. It was a nightmare- The 9700 replaces it and its solid like a M1 Tank- It was very funny the way they put it.

9700 does hebrew very well..
and yes both my BB and my iphone can send emails via wifi on board. txt you cannot do because that is cellular and not data.

i played with a friends iphone and anothers bold 9000... i love the multitude of apps on the iphone... it's like geek heaven.... but ultimately, i went with the bold2. i figured after the buyers hype wore off... i wouldn't be kicking myself for goin with the bold instead of iphone... i think i was right.

It's like this. There are 2 things that the BB doesn't offer as well as the I-phone (screen size and browser) The apps are cool but how much cool do you want/need/use in your day to dat FROM YOUR PHONE. What you really want for the most part is practical use and functionality and the BB does that like no other.

Sure I can play games on my PC but that's what I have a PS3 for. I'll play those PC games infrequently and I'll never use my PS3 as a computer.

Similarly, you want cool games and fun - go with the I-phone. Otherwise, stick with the BB.

i have both... my iphone is unlocked but my BB 9700 is locked. using iphone i can easily connect to yahoo messenger but using my BB 9700, i can't. :(
