I didn't really notice this until I compared my Curve to a 8830, but the Curve's keyboard feels alot cheaper and when you type on it, it creaks and moves like it's not in all the way. I can wiggle the keys like they don't fit where their supposed to, and overall the keyboard just feels really cheap. I mean REALLY cheap. Anyone elses like this?

No, it's not a problem, just kind of... disappointing.

Yup, I think I wrote about it in a separate post; I noticed that the buttons are nowhere near as solid feeling as the 8700 units.

hrmm not a problem on mine. Keys are solid, no wiggling. Id be extremely annoyed to say the least if I experienced anything like what ya all are describing.

Yup. I'm used to it now as well. But coming from the HTC P4000 (6900) it was quite a shock because the keyboard on that was phenomenal. It was just too bad the call quality was so bad!

All the keypads have just a little give to them. it's normal. The keypad itself is one piece and sits in a piece of plastic with holes in it. The keypad has posts that extend down through the plastic and rest on the contacts. It makes it simple to disassemble and replace parts when necessary. It's really a good setup.

Physically, yes. I can't find that particular part after a couple minutes of searching, but you can check periodically at Cellular Accessories - HTC, Accessories Store, BlackBerry, Tools, Samsung, Mobiado, SonyEricsson, Panas They carry a lot of diferent parts for phones.

Yes, they can be replaced. They are attached to the plastic piece with the holes in it and the keypad lays on top of it.

Yep i think that it feels that way comparted to the pearl but i have gotten used to it. It feels more cheap plastic and it squeeks a tiny bit. It still works fine and after a bit it does not make a difference to me.

My keyboard seems fine, but I switched from a touch screen to a keyboard, so there was a little learning curve for me. I don't seem to mind the "wiggle", though.

I remember when I first got my iPhone in February 2008 and I was in the ATT store, I was playing around with phones, and I got to the BB Curve and the keyboard was very loose. You could literally push the keys and they'll move from from left to right...at the time, I thought all the BB Curve keyboards were like that, so I was like ohhh I'm never going to get this phone in the future, so once I got my BB Curve, the keyboard didn't wobbled, it seemed pretty stable. So, my keyboard seems stable.

If you are having problems, it's very cheap to get another keyboard for your Curve. I'm thinking about switching mines out to another color.

It's great that it's easily repaired, but my 8700's keyboard was much tighter than my Curve's, as was my 7105's.

We shouldn't make too many excuses for RIM -- for the price, these keyboards ought to be well-fitted.
