Angry Obama and the Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone else read the recent article on MSNBC?
Obama's New BlackBerry: The NSA's Secure PDA? - Page1 -Â* MSN Tech & Gadgets - News and Features

Okay has anyone, I mean ANYONE, ever had a virus on your device? Or have you ever had it hacked? REALLY?

Hate to stir up trouble, but i really dislike when misinformation is put out..

and to add too it... They reference the National Vulnerability Database..

National Vulnerability Database

I think it more about the politics than technology. Can you image a leak that came directly from the president's email? The news media would have a field day.....

true, but even then.. IF that was the case we would have know all about the stuff the pentagon has been doing for years..

That and who the hell can trust a Windows mobile device anyway.. They are the ones subject to virus's and hacks.. Not to mention that the phones suck..

The NVD has nothing on blackberry that states anything about a handheld being hacked. I know I haven't heard of a blackberry being hacked

You're only ever as secure as your weakest link, as far as BlackBerry is concerend, it's pretty tight, so no worries there.

Interesting dilemma. Had the other person won, there would be no technology discussion.

I'm sure RIM isn't pleased that the term "BlackBerry" is being genericized like Xerox, Kleenex, etc. I don't know if they specifically mean BlackBerry as a trademark or as a blanket term for full-keyboard based PDAs

Let's see, the only guy selling antivirus software for the BB says they can be infected with viruses. I'm sure he's not biased and has actual proof of it.

From the article:
Quote:
BlackBerrys can become infected with viruses that install spyware or turn the microphone on and record conversations, malware can be inadvertently downloaded, e-mail and text messages can be intercepted, and, of course, they can be lost or stolen, said Dan Hoffman, chief technology officer of SMobile Systems, which sells antivirus software for the devices.
From SMobile website:
Quote:
For over three years, SMobile VirusGuard for BlackBerry has been the only antivirus solution protecting BlackBerry devices from Malware, Spyware and malicious cyber attacks.

Agreed. That's why they will resist any mobile device.

From the article:

From SMobile website:
Mr. Hoffman has been asked a number of questions he has not answered for whatever reason. See here:
Five—no, four good security tipsxxx8230; from CSOonline.com | BlackBerryNews.com

I don't think he has answers.
