Hello,

I have a big problem. I can't set any Ring tone and I also can't use Try it, when setting ring tone.
When I go: Sounds - Set Ring Tones/Alerts - Phone - Ring tone (when I brows ring tones they are not playing) - Try it (there is only red light and silence)

Don't know what to do? Please help.

Make sure all volume settings are correct and active. Sometimes you have to press (and hold) the "Try it" button multiple times. If neither of these solve the problem, try a battery pull.

I tried to push Try it button for longer time, and still nothing.
The battery pull doesn't change anything, I already tried it.

I think the volume settings are OK and active.

Still need help!

Can't play ring tones, but can play vibration.

How is that possible?

is it a ringtone you downloaded? if so and you moved it around in different files it wont play. for some reason on my storm it will not refresh my ringtones so I have to browse to the ringtone of choice....

I didn't downloaded any new ring tones.

I was having the same issue trying to play a custom ringtone. My issue was that the ringtones were not in the correct format.

Additionally - just for good measure - try a battery pull while the device is on. Then go and try to play the ring tone again.

Some have had this problem, and they re-installed the OS and everything worked well.

As Pirlok says. I had same problem after upgrading to .141. Reloaded OS and all was OK.

well nothing worked for me.
I updated my out of the box storm after using it for a week to .141 and i also had problems with the standard ringtones.
I tried battery pull...did not work.

I tried Go to Options > Security > General > Press Menu > Wipe Handheld.
Still was .141
Did not work.

I tried downgrading (with succes, i checked the version and the ringtone switch/try worked) and upgrading to
.141 again....did not work

After doing this i lost my contacts even with the backup before doing all of this
But i dont care...I WANT TO HEAR AND RESET MY STANDARD RINGTONES

I think the .148 is only for 9530, and he has a 9500.

Is that the newest update?

Becouse on my phone it is 4.7.0.141 (Platform 4.0.0.174)
Why is there two version codes (.141 and platform.174) and what do they actualy mean?

4.7.0.141 (Platform 4.0.0.174) is the latest OS for BlackBerry Storm 9500.
Platform 4.0.0.174 is the software platform, while 4.7.0.141 is the applications version.

ok i thought that the higher the number the newer the update (4.7.0.195/4.7.0.141 )

it may seem like my english is good but technical english is a bit different. Things like software platform and aplicationsversion

But ik can make a guess what it means.
A software platform is like my pc..the software platform wil be xp ??

An aplication is a program running on pc or phone like messenger.
But i don't get the application version thing on the phone
