My BB9900 is onVersion 7.0.0 Bundle 2392. Does anyone know why and/or when AT&T will be providing the upgraded OS that supposedly provides longer battery life?

No one knows. There have been reported problems with the microphones with v7.1 on some AT&T BlackBerrys.

As mentioned above it's anyone's guess when and if AT&T will release a 7.1 OS. But you can upgrade to the 7.1 OS now and I highly recommend it. Just stay below 7.1.0.5xx as there are problems with the mic for some users in releases in the 500's and above - I have experienced this myself. I'm using 7.1.0.391 with no issues and very good battery life. Make sure to follow the directions and delete the vendor.xml file(s) before installing on your phone.
