Cool 9900 Users Abandonend without a Better Battery

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there.

Please can I ask why the new 9330 curve has a J-S1 (1450ah) battery and the 9900/9930/9890 still have J-M1 (1230) battery. Both batteries are very similar inside, contact pins in the J-S1 will fit in 9900 with a tight push, however X appears on bootup

When can we expect to see an J-M1 with 1400/1500 capacity, or have we been abandoned due to next BB10?

Thanks
..

Who knows. You should ask RIM, this board is unaffiliated with RIM and is staffed by volunteers.

You can try contacting RIM via twitter, or hit up the Community Forums.

You're brave trying a different battery in your phone.

I would be more worried about the "tight push." With smart batteries and all, I doubt the protection circuit let the BlackBerry see any amps from the battery.

But has there ever been a case where RIM came out with another battery for a model? I don't know of one. But I can't say they never did.

The two most critical bits of information with these batteries are that the voltage must be the same . . . . 3.6Vish and the external dimensions must be a match for obvious reasons. The amperage of 1230mah VS 1500mah will give you the extra life that you are seaking. Gee that sounds like a line from some movie?! Anyhow, these batteries also have an onboard IC chip that among other things will shut the battery down if a power spike should occur so I suspect that this little chip in the battery must also send it's coding for what it is, probably hopefully trying to stop the leaked profits due to 2nd source battery manufacturers, but dunno.

Cool Re: 9900 Users Abandonend without a Better Battery

Hi there,

I purchased two Momax 1400ah J-M1 PDA batteries direct on ebay and have been testing them for 10 days and here my conclusions.

The batteries arrived within 8 working days from Hong Kong

They were very well packaged and compete with decoder and full instructions

They are around 1.5mm thicker than original batteries, but fit snug inside the original battery cover.

Coding the batteries was quick and easy, less than 5 secs.

The batteries were tested on 7.1.0.205, 7.1.0.267 and 7.1.0.342 with no problems, they did not work on 7.1.0.402 or 7.1.0.428! These are the only OS7 softwares that I tested!

The batteries took 3 full charges to reach peak, 3 days after a new software install.

The batteries have been hard booted 10 times and softbooted 15 times and have never had to be recoded.

They are giving around extra 2.5 - 3 hours of heavy use, and around 33% extra standby time.

Thank you Momax and fck you RM

Hope this help helps

Apparently Seidio is coming out with a 2000mah batt and rear cover if it isn't already out

I'm waiting for a 20000 mAh battery. The case might be a bit large and the jumper cables may need a seperate case for carring.

I emailed RIM and they said that the best way to preserve battery life is to ensure you have the latest OS which you do, so other than that, zilch :/

The Application Resource Monitor (included with this build), will shut down any application that is hogging cpu time or eating battery life.

I saw on Crackberry that Mugen is releasing a 1500 mAh extended battery for the 9900/9930. It claims it will fit with the original door. Looks real good, and they are a top manufacturer of quality products. Here's the link:

Mugen Blackberry Bold 9900 Extended Battery - 1500mAh
