I have the bold 2 9700, downloaded the latest version of facebook, everything was working for a while. Then all of a sudden I was getting email notifications along with FB notifications on my phone. So, I took the following steps:

1. In gmail -> settings -> filters/labels: I created a facebook filter and label and added the FB notification email to the filter, and told the email to go to the FB label.

So, that worked for a while. I was getting all of my FB notifications, but no duplicate emails.

Last night I started to get ZERO FB or email notifications on my phone.

2. I uninstalled FB and reinstalled FB. Still nothing.

3. Then I went back into my gmail settings, deleted the filter and deleted the label.

4. I then went into FB settings, unchecked, then saved, then rechecked EVERY notification option online in my notification settings. Now I am getting ONLY email notifications. WTH!?!?!?!?

Can I just say I am tired of repeating the word "notification" LOL!

SO, can ANYONE please offer up a solution to this problem?

I don't have a solution for you other than I found the FB app to be somewhat glitchy and a huge battery drain. So I just started logging in from the browser (Opera Mini 5.1) which was rather painless.

this version has major issues. It screwed up my entire blackberry and caused me to have to do a hard reset which I have not done in 5 years!!!

Recommendation is to avoid the facebook app and use Snaptu. It works, its light and you'll have no issues with facebook.

I am NOT sure what I did, but its working now. I THINK with the gmail settings, FB is finally working. I did uninstall and reinstall, reboot, uncheck all of my notifications online, login to FB on my phone, then recheck everything online. So, now I am getting ONLY FB notifications on my phone. For me, after I installed 1.8.0.49 on my Blackberry Bold 9700, I started to get notifications of certain Facebook events both within the Facebook application as well as my e-mail.

I went into the e-mail, clicked on the link that says "Want to control what emails you receive from Facebook" and turned off the selection for the events that I didn't want an e-mail for.

Now, I only receive the notifications of these events (Wall postings and comments) within the Facebook application itself which is what I want.
