How can I delete BB Msgr from my 9900? It's running in the background and I never use it.

Run the AppLoader and un-check it from your list of what features to install?

Use the BlackBerry desktop manager sofware. Allow you to look at all the installed stuff and get rid of what you do not need/want.

Download BBM and overwrite the one on the device then go to application management and delete BBM. I do this every time I change to a different OS. I don't dislike BBM but not many folks in my area use BB. If you could use BBM like an ordinary SMS app I would probably use it.

When you use it with someone who is NOT on a BB, are the messages you send to them considered BBM or regular SMS texts? The reason I ask is I have a 200/m text plan and saving on outgoing texts would be helpful.

I believe it is counted towards your monthly sms quota/count. Using Crunchsms does not count towards your count.

It works with the 99xx but is not compatible with 7.1

Unless you edit the alx file to make this optional, this method won't work. The BBM app is set to "required".

Install the OS to your computer, delete BlackBerryMessenger.alx, and do an "update" from the local disk.
