Default Vendor theme unlock alx file for 8310

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Everyone... yes, I searched!

I see in the following thread there are the .alx files for the BB 8300, and I'm curious if anyone has the .alx mod to unlock the vendor themes for the 8310 with the newest Vodafone 4.2.2.170 posted on here?

http://www.blackberryforums.com/medi...-4-2-only.html

Thanks!

Well people have posted it for every other device. If I asked for the file and someone sent me a link to a 20 step process that's not what I asked for.

Go grab a coffee or something and chill a bit ........... I don't think it was necessary to tear someone a new one just because they offered an alternate solution to your query.

Just the fact that someone takes the time to respond to your question at least deserves a POLITE response.

You could have simply said "Thanks, but I'd really rather not do it myself."

Wow...

If anything, the first time I messed with the OS for my BB, I did it myself, just so I would know all that's involved in messing with the OS. This way, I learned how to keep themes I wanted and how to lock out the ones I didn't instead of loading them all.

I just did this with my AT&T Curve 8310 and it worked perfect and was easy... I don't see why you can't do it.

Yeesh. No kidding.

It's very easy. Remove the vendor ID's. There's no risk as you can make a copy of your original file and use it to replace the one you modified if it doesn't work for some reason.

But, whatever... Some people apparently feel entitled to have their fish handed to them rather than learn to fish.

The process is the same regardless of model.

Question Curve 8310 Theme unlock

I don't mind doing the modification, but I can not get past the first step in that I do not have the file location: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files" I do not have a "Shared" folder under RIM. I have an "AppLoader" sub directory under RIM but there is no .alx file. I did a search, but the only alx files are under. vendor ids.

Any ideas?

Default Same Problem Here

I do not have the program path indicated. Could it have something to do with the version of DM ? v4.2.0.10 [July 2006]. OS ver 4.2.2.170 (platform 2.5.0.30). Not only that, but I searched my HD for 'blackberry.alx' and came up with no matches.

You haven't installed the OS files. They are stored in the Shared Folder. You need to download the full OS installer program for the OS you have on your phone.

again try and download the full OS version file for your phone. That should work.
