You're getting this error on a version you downloaded from the web site?
Signal-Location Utilities for BlackBerry

Or did you get this version from some other place?

I'm looking for your software- not sure if you can see my last post about quick SMS TXT of Lat/Lon? - I'm now on Google Lattitude but can't get friends to share location data with me. I'm looking for a 1 way "here I am at this time Google Map graphic" to be sent to anyone. Clectcar

Ok, I think I know what your asking but I'm afraid it's beyond what I can do with this particular app.

On the main screen, I can see my GPS location.
I can scroll down and highlight my location, which is displayed as
38:12:34.53,-122:32:12.34
Menu, copy, switch to the appropriate app to compose SMS or email, and paste it in.

But, not very many apps can use that lat/long format.
If that were displayed/copied/pasted as 38.1234,-122.5123 I think it would be a good thing. That would be acceptable to Mobile Google Maps, maps.google.com and Google Earth. In the current format, if you change the : to space, it is usable in maps.google.com and Google Earth, but not Google Mobile Maps.

It seems like Google Maps on the BBerry would offer the ability to copy-paste the location, but even with Latitude, I don't see that ability. I see it mentioned often in the "ideas for mobile" section on Google, but ...

Yep, that's normal. -70 seems to be the highest signal strength that the WCDMA radio will report.

It'll change but only if the signal drops below -70. You must have great 3G coverage where you are.

yeah i had to leave the city, and then it was changing. I just wanted to make sure. by the way this a very nice tool to have, do you know if the RIM tool is any better, do you know if the rim tool can see the scrambling code of the UMTS or even lock on it. i do know that a TEMS phone can do that.

Thanks for a GREAT tool!!!

Hey everyone. I'm working on mapping out signal strengths from various carriers similar to this tool. We are trying to gather as much data as possible to map out as much cellular coverage as possible for all carriers. I know this tool can save data as csv and kml flles. If any of you all want to contribute you collected data I can incorporate it into the iblipped community.

Let's map it all out to share!

Yes it is, except that Verizon doesn't allow the cell site location to be obtained.

Okay, I've looked up mmc=302 mnc=720 lac=10050 cellid=44992 in the google database using a dos based program and it returns the correct long/lat. For some reason signalloc cannot find it in the same google data base?

I really wish I could get this to work correctly.

Does T-Mobile allow their cell site info to be obtained?

Only CDMA operators can allow/block site location info that is sent on the radio to your phone (ex: Sprint allows it, VZW blocks it).

GSM/UMTS operators (ex.T-Mobile or AT&T) do not transmit GPS locations of their sites over the air, so there's no way your phone knows exactly where is the site it's connected to. In this case Google does a sort of "reverse triangulation" based on info it harvests from your phone every time you open Google Maps Mobile (read the fine print). So essentially, Google does not know where exactly the GSM/UMTS sites are (only the operators itsself knows). And hence SignalLoc doesn't know either, since it uses Googles "guessed" location.

...in short, not T-Mobile doesn't "block" their cell site info from being obtained, but the info you get via Google won't always be accurate.

.

PS. If you like SignalLoc, you might like my app as well. It's similar, but plots the points real-time cellumap.com

You can download the app OTA at cellumap.com/ota

.
