Default BES unable to open information store after reboot

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

long time lurker first time poster. I have a BES server at a clients site (Win2k3 standard , Bes ver 4.1.2.25) which has been wonderful since we installed it back in sept/oct last year.

They are currently migrating to a new exchange server however not all at once so there are two exchange servers on the network at present Server05 (original exchange) and server11 (new exchange).

Prior to moving our BESadmin account over to Server11 i ensure it had all the correct permissions for send as/receiveas/administer information store.. that it had delegated control to view exchange etc.. The settings are all ok.

Last Monday I moved the Besadmin account over and the BESserver has worked until I had to reboot it today.. now in Event view I get the following errors:

WARNING - Blackberry Controller Manager
The description for Event ID ( 20406 ) in Source ( BlackBerry Controller ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 'SERVER09' agent 2: will not restart - reached the maximum of 10 restarts per 24 hours.

The error logs are filled with lots of errors incl unable to open default message store...

The permissions are all correct and just to make sure I created a new user bbadmin removed the MAPI profile under the reg key containted in RIM KB10285 and restarted the server all to no avail it will not communicate with any of the devices and is unable to speak to exchange.. The log files contain various client sensitve data so i will not post them here but is there anything I should be looking for in there?

That log line has to do with the Calendar. It means that the permission used to for Calendaring is not set correctly.

The reached the maximum of 10 restarts per 24 hours measn that the BlackBerry Messaging Agent failed to start, it tries 10 times then waits 24 hours or until the BES is restarted before it tries again.

This is usually due to MAPI issues.

What changes have you made recently? In the Application Logs there should be another warning before or after the 10 restart error for the BlackBerry Messging Agent with an error number like 5302. That should tell you why it's failing.

Also, where is the new Exchange Server? Are the ping times high when trying to ping from the BES? Are all BES users on this Exchnage Server? Is it the same version as the old server? Can the MAPI profiles resolve any mailboxes on that Exchange server on the BES?
