Default Unable to use the keys that I want

Please Login to Remove!

When I press the menu key, the arrow key near the red phone icon, and well mostly any key. It is as if the phone has a mind of its own. It is acting erratically. Like it will not do what the key is supposed to do. It jumps to like whatever option it wants for example within the menu options. Or when I have tried to log into the device, it will only type like 2 letters and then it will delete everything and start again. Does anyone know why this is happening? and how do I fix this?

Did you get it wet? Have you tried a battery pull while the device is running?

No, I did not get it wet. It was raining very lightly one day, but I do not think it could have been damaged by water. Yes. I tried battery pull. I also tried wiping and reloading. It was better temporarily and then it started acting up again.

Not really. It appears to have stopped acting weird, but it has done that before and then started acting up again. This is the second time I have wiped and reloaded.

"Not really" sounds closer to a yes than a no. The symptoms you describe are those experienced by people who have Blackberries with water damage. That doesn't mean it isn't something else, but you haven't given us any reason to draw any other conclusions from.

That's enough moisture to cause corrosion on the keypad contacts.

Its definitely water damage. I had the same prob with my other 9700. It was raining very very lightly and a few drups landed themselves on my keypad and they started to party and I had the same symptoms as rllngriver. This 9700 can't deal with water drups. That's a con of the device. You could give the 9000 some beer and walk in the rain without any props. This con comes from the curve ;).

I dont know. This happened many, many days after it had been raining. I guess it is possible.
