Question Any way to RETRIEVE DELETED SMS TEXT MESSAGES???

Please Login to Remove!

I am trying to find important text messages that are no longer on my device. I absolutely need them! Is there any way to get these any other way? Such as contacting BB? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Have you any backups of the device to your PC?

If you are certain it has been deleted off the BB, and you have no backup, then no, there is no way.

Contacting "BB" will not help. Like JSanders said, if you made no back up they are gone!

Default Not necessarily gone....

You would need to contact your service provider.

They keep all text messages on file for a required period (not sure how long), in case any legal action requires cell records to be supeonad (sp?)

I can't say for sure they can release them to you, and it might cost you some $$ to have them recover it, but they definitely have to have them on file in case of legal action.

Steach, that is not true. They don't keep them.

Actually, they do, but you'll need a court order to get them transcribed to you. I just went through this with T-Mobile and that was the indication they gave me. I'm sure other carriers do the same thing.

They are required to keep them, just as companies are required to keep ALL company email on file for a period of 3-7 years.

They have to be able to produce them if any litigation comes about, but like JRSCCivic98, they may need a court order.

I wasn't sure if they would just released them to a person, and apparently he has been thru this.

Yep, they keep them ... Saw a show on Court TV where the judge ordered the SMS messages to be released "Some Kid Killed his Girlfriend."

I do have backups....but how would I actually access these files?...Also,...do the backups actually keep sms text messages or just other data such as address book, calendar, notes etc.???

Thanks again for your input! I am not on a BES....just the individual software.

Your backup keeps all that--check this out:
Free download ABC Amber BlackBerry Convertor, convert, backup and archive IPD files to CHM, PDF, HTML, Word, Access, Excel, CSV, IPD Extractor

@all the others, my apologies. I understood they might have the records of who you sent and received from, but I did not know they actually kept your messages as well, the body of your text, etc.

Another good reason NOT to use SMS.

So then next time dont go talking out of your ass.

Why would you state a fact as if you had some knowledge when in fact you are completely wrong?

People like you really piss me off

carriers will not release this info without a court order, and a court isnt gonna just order them to do so, there has to be a very good reason for them to do so.

they are not backed up for general consumer obtainability. so in essence they aren't

Maybe because he's the MODERATOR here and has been answering BB and mobile phone questions for a hell of a long time? Sometimes an expert does get it wrong.

Anyone ever tell you NOT to piss off a forum moderator as they have the ability to BAN you?

People like you make me look good. I can apologize, and you still come here throwing sticks with your childishd anger and language. If this pisses you off, my advice would be to stay in your home and pull the curtains. If you get out in public and see what the real world is like, you will blow a gasket.

Wow, the man apologized (and as far as i'm concerned didn't need to).
Let it go, take some anger management before you kick your dog.

Its called a mistake, and not everyone is going to know that they have to keep them....its not exactly public knowledge.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Hold your fire, asiedle. I'd guess the carrier's do hold that info for a period of time, but there's not enough in this thread to know for sure either way. No reason to rip into anyone the way you did, and for sure not someone who's doing good here on BBF and may have been in error, and admits it.

That would be access to information held by the government and covered by the act; not information held by an individual or a business or corporation.
