yeah, sure thing, I'd like to see more of this kinda thing. really only I can tell it's really custom, but it's kinda cool and really sets off the icons like "buttons". seems even cooler than just an image.

Can you please explain to me how one can work with a template such as this and incorporate a backround into it? I don't have much photoshop experience but I would love to learn. Thanks!!!

Template with Clear Background
hartford and others,
I am by no means a Photoshop expert, but I used Illustrator to make a version of the template with a clear background and colored buttons. I am trying to figure out how to post it in an editable format, but I can't quite figure it out yet. The only valid file types to upload to this board are whole image files (jpg, gif, etc.) and a few other file types, but none that include the Illustrator type (.ai). I tried to zip it, but the zipped file exceeds the max file size for the .zip file type.
I will keep working on it, but in the mean time, here is an example of what I can now do with my blank background template. Thanks to those that had the idea for the "button" template. It's a really cool look, I think.
Here is my background on my 8700 right now.

Is there any chance this template could be done in a format for the 71xx series? Thanks in advance!

Somewhere in the thread is a photoshop action I posted (96dpi only if I recall) that added a white strip. Yours is much more elegant. Suggest you post the file on another site with a link if you have access.

looks like I'm starting a trend!!! I'm diggin the colored buttons! makes it looks even more "built in"
let me see if I can some time to make a totally blank template for those without photoshop (isn't the magic wand awesome?)
one thought i came accross today was to make the button outline the same yellow as the selected color the button turns. would effectivsly make it dissappear on selection.

I don't have anywhere that I can conveniently upload the file for sharing. I will be glad to email the file to anyone that can put it up on a host & link.
Anyone that can do that, please PM me.
Thanks,
Chris

cwgoff - nicely done. I would love to be able to change the colors and image to suit my needs, but you're definitely on the right track...

Here are 2 templates that you can use to layout the buttons. easiest thing to do is copy the template image and overlay it onto your picture. crop out the excess and you have an exact sized background image and the button layouts to match.
one is transparent and the other is white background.
I was even able to use the transparent on in plain ol crappy "Paint" so play around with em and see what you can come up with.
enjoy!

One thing about all the pre-cut wallpaper, it might looks cool when the device is not locked, but when it locked, the wallpaper looks kinda suck with those empty blank spots...

man, I didn't know the icons when away in lock mode. It kinda looks cool to me, like the padlock down in the corner is keeping your icons from prying eyes too,and when you unlock it populates the "buttons"

I agree muttley; if your company had any proprietary software/apps on your BB these them/background would hide the icons.

I love that F14 background. It's actually a painting. I have that in large size and sometimes use it as a wallpapper.
