Default Redmond competition?

Please Login to Remove!

Just a rumour I heard.... Looking for corroboration.

Heard MS has a dev project, codename "pink", for a new phone to compete w/ android et al. Supposedly MS from the bench up, both h/w and s/w. All completely new and NOT based on their 'mobile' stuff.

Well..... so I hear anyway.
Anybody?

Not news. Do a google on project pink for more info.

BGR on 4/12: Microsoftxxx8217;s Project Pink unveiling « Boy Genius Report
Gizmode on 4/12: Microsoft Kin: The Perfect Phone for Sidekick Fans - Microsoft Kin - Gizmodo

Does not sound like it will be any competion at all to Android, BB, or any other smartphone. Probably not to any dumb phone either.

DOn't know about the failure part. Not meant to be a smartphone. The idea behind those phones is that many parents (myself included) are not going to pay a $30/mo data plan so the kiddie can text and facebook.

These MS pink phones only require the $10 data plan for common 'feature' phones.

it's a sidekick replacement. Geared towards the youth. It will revolve around social network apps and all.

And like the sidekick, there won't be any apps for it besides what's preloaded.
