Hello, Im a newbie to blackberry and I have just purchased a curve 8900. where can i find the newest OS version for my phone?

And...How do I install it?

When I say new. I just purchased my first PC and I am 41 years old so I am really new. A step by step instruction for a complete moron would be nice...

At the very TOP of this 8900 section, you'll find a thread named "Latest OS...". That is also the newest. Follow the instructions in THAT thread.

You could go beta too with the 5.0.0.348 OS.

You'll find that in "Beta you then me.."

I'd suggest that you stick to the released OS until you are a bit more comfortable with the BB, and can research and answer that question yourself...

I would also like to add that given your newbness(no insult intended) to BBs and PCs, you should probably do alot more research before jumping into an OS upgrade.

Agreed, a little research never hurts. That way if something goes wrong you know how to correct it.

OS upgrade isnt that hard.........ive only had a blackberry for a week now, never used one before now but if you look round first there is loads of help to get through it easy enough, lol just make sure you read EVEYTHING properly!!!

i have a newb question to add to the mix. if i upgrade to the new OS do i loost all my apps and other stuff on my phone?

The first step of the upgrade is a backup of your data and applications.
The last step is a restore.

There are no guarantees that all of your apps will work on a newer OS (upgrade from 4.x to 5.x).
