Nope! Mine is solid! No wiggle up and down or side to side, or flexing with the slider open or closed.

Just traded mine in at the ATT store, as the first Torch I purchased on launch day had a lot of give/wiggle to the point where the screen bounced when you typed on it. Made it difficult to use the touchscreen keyword. This second one is MUCH better.

Well, after styopping in at another ATT store, I checked out their 2 demo units. And they had theirs set up to be able to close. Neither of their units had any wobble, and I mean zero. I talked to the associate and he took mine and compared it to theirs. He admitted it shouldnt be like that, and I should go back and nicely ask them to exchange the device, and explain that I would like to test the units before I leave the store. I explained to him that this one isn't as bad as my last, and he said "either way, it's a brand new device, and it shouldn't do it at all. Take it back and just esplain to them nicely that you went into other stores and their devices aren't like this at all."

So just to be sure, I said, "Even if this is my second one?" His reply, "if you go in nicely, they should not let you leave without one as solid as these."

So unfortunately, # 2 is going back.

Cool - glad I found this! I just picked mine up for the 30 day test drive and that was going to be a deal breaker. I will take it back and swap it for a better one and try again!

yup, took mine back (on my 3rd) and I couldn't be happier! no clicking when using the home keys or the touch keyboard! Doesn't rattle when I open it and shake it!

Took mine back today - only other one they had was clacky too. Oh well.....back to the 8310 and wait for something else. I really liked the phone, so maybe I will try again in 4-6 months and hope RIM has the build quaility better. =(

Why not try another AT&T store?

Can't speak for unluky, but I've exchanged the device 3 times (not including the first one that never left the counter). I've decided to just suck it up and if it falls apart well then, it falls apart, and hopefully warranty will replace. But every one of the devices I've had has had problems.
