Hearing some chatter about 4.7 beginning to circulate...4.7.0.29 is what I have heard.

Anyone? Jibi? What's the word?

I was under the impression that 4.6.x.x was going to be the Bold's OS version while 4.7.x.x was going to be for the Storm. I don't understand what an OS 4.7.x.x would offer for the Bold that it does not already have.

Just for the record, I hate seeing a post about a speculated new OS with the speculated OS version as the title. Imagine how many disappointed people are going to run across this over the next few days/weeks--especially if it is indeed only speculation.

I just heard that OS 5.1 for the Bold will be coming out 2Q 2009. The big difference is support for a touch screen. However, in order to use that feature, you will need to purchase a replacement touch screen and install it yourself, or send it to a 3rd party to upgrade.

no no no

You will keep the screen you have, and replace the remainder of the device.

I've seen signs of 4.7.0 for the Bold, but I had not seen any actual builds. I'm checking now.

*EDIT: Still nothing new on my side (just the OS family).

having the API being the same for 4.6 and 4.7 would most certainly help.

or at least port the API for 4.7 to the 4.6 OS or something. Some methods are definetly lacking.
