Default Wish(es) for future OS Upgrades for Torch

Please Login to Remove!

Not sure where exactly it would be best to forward wishes for future OS build upgrades to the Torch, but after stumbling on something sort of odd last night, I thought I would go ahead and take the liberty of starting a thread to express a few wishes here. Perhaps I'll add more later...

1) First off, I think it is absolutely awesome that with the Torch / OS 6.0 one is able to add a webpage (i.e. as a link embedded into a new icon) to the home screen -- i.e. in the broswer, Options > Add [page] to Home Screen, thereby having an icon linked up to click from the home screen directly (and bypassing the extra steps of going into the browser / bookmarks). LOVE THIS.

Having said that, it would be really great I think, if, in addition to the possibility hopefully of being able able to add a link from some place other than the browser to the browser bookmarks (i.e. Options > Add link to Bookmarks), one could also add a link directly to the home screen (Options > Add link to Home Screen) from the browser or anywhere -- rather than having to first load the link into the browser, and then adding the resulting page as a webpage linked up icon to the home screen. For example, if a link is found on a webpage or in an email, it would be ideal to be able to simply highlight the link and Options > Add Link to Home Screen, rather than having to open up the link in the browser and then add the page to the home screen.

-- I stumbled across this inability to add a link directly to the home screen when I was playing a media stream (music via Youmuze), adding the page as a resulting icon to the home page (i.e. the link of that playing page as an icon on the home page), and then finding out when later returning to activate that icon and play the stream, that the link to that icon was no longer valid (a rtsp that shifts url streams). --

2) It would also therefore be awesome to be able to edit a webpage-icon that has been added to the home screen. Right now, there is no way that I can see to edit (e.g. edit the url, add an image, etc). Would be great if there was a way on the home screen to highlight the icon, then Options > Properties > Edit.

It is unknown if RIM reads this forum but who knows the suggestions may get to someone who is in RIM.

Go For It.!!

A native Clipboard app I think would also be nice.

When a stream is opened up in the browser, the tabs icon that is otherwise found at the top of the browser (beside the short pulldown menu), isn't placed. Would be nice if the tabs icon was there with a stream player page, rather than going into Menu..

I would love to be able to set the brightness (lower than default) on the clock display in bedside mode. It's just a little too bright as it is!

Autolock... that activates after xx seconds. Useful on all BB devices, but most on touch screen.

Viigo upgrade... In spite of some overlaps, I really fail to see how Social Feeds replaces it.

The ability to disable sleep mode so there is no more of users slicing up their cases to remove the magnet.

And even lower screen brightness.. Even on 10 its too bright to check inconspicuouisly in a movie theatre during trailers etc.. My 8700 was nice in this respect.

A battery that lasts a week would kick4ss too. But I'd cope with just a few days. After a few months I've been stranded with no juice twice already.

For some reason when I'm streaming a radio station through the browser, when a text message comes in, it stops the stream (i.e. it doesn't just pause it for the notification sound), such that I have to repush the play button?

A wish for the ability to have more than one browser (of the same kind, i.e. the native Torch browser) operable from the Home Screen.

I really like the option in the browser when it is activated to have it either start up on the Home Page (with whatever URL one could wish for) or on the Start Page.

But I am having real difficulty choosing which to open up with

Doesn't really seem possible to me to have both as close to begin with within THE browser, even in some possible future OS upgrade?..

But perhaps a future upgrade could make for the opportunity to have access to two (or more) browsers, please? Like on a PC, one could have several browsers operating...That is to say, on the Home Screen, one could have two (or more) icons, with each one when activated being an independently operating browser?

Any users who slice up their cases to remove the magnet, just aren't being too intelligent. Its very easy to change the profile settings so that the device acts the same in and out of the holster, if that's the way you want yours to operate.

have you done a search here and on crackberry forums?

thats a pretty bold statement after personally sifting through numerous threads ending with "you will have to order a case without a magnet or remove the one you currently have"

having a screen swipe lock feature. I have deleted emails, made calls, deleted address book entries etc while the phone slid around in my pocket. I usually remember to hit the lock button, but if the phone slides around in your pocket and the lock button is jostled, the phone unlocks and then it is in auto-swipe mode....

It would be great (and perhaps to be expected, to some extent?) if the stock Media Player was upgradeable (of course, even as a purchase) such that one could access and play (and organize) radio and internet stations, especially Shoutcast via the media player. And rather than having to download a different player that can access those AND play your own music files (sort of making the stock Media Player, which is otherwise more user-friendly than other media players, redundant).

And it would also be great if in a future OS upgrade if the stock Media Player could also stream via all Bluetooth formats.

As with all my wishes hopefully to be included in future OS upgrades, pretty please!!

YEAH, sort of doubt that a front camera is doable, but that is one thing that would be a huge plus!

Sort Pictures By Name (vs. Date/Time) as every previous BB OS has had.
