Default BES Monitoring from Handheld

Please Login to Remove!

Anyone know if there is some way to monitor the BES server from your handheld? I.E. if there is a seperate tool that sends information to the handheld so that you know that data is coming through.

There's quite a few of them out there. Try the Idokorro link in our sponsors section.

Id like to know this as well. Would be nice if there were some sort of java app that sends an email on a configured basis to test the connection. Being on call for Blackberry support, I find myself sending test messages from my device many times per day. We dont have BESalert set up on our servers as of yet, and even if we did, we have a tight network and unless the device/service is working properly I wouldnt get the alerts anyway. If there is such an application someone should please link it.

Any updates on this? I'm interested in doing something similar. I was thinking of generating an agent that will send e-mails to random users on all of our BES servers using the <$removeondelivery, confirm> flags so that it will generate a return receipt then delete the message from the recipients account. I then plan to monitor the mailbox for the return receipts and generate alerts if they are not recieved within a specified window. Anyone trying anything like this?

Default Roundtrip Message Verification

Hi Besmob,

In fact, version 2.5 of our NeedTEXT Monitor for BES (needtext.net) solution provides this functionality. You can deploy a client app OTA that runs in the background on the handheld and enables Roundtrip Message Verification. It will send both email and MDS data to and from the handheld and continuously monitor the latency. The client also communicates other helpful troubleshooting data (battery level, wireless signal strength, etc.) plus enables a set of useful on-demand tests like ping, one-time email, etc.

Feel free to contact me directly if you'd like any additional details. There is also a webcast by our CTO, specifically about these roundtrip features, at the URL above.

Regards,
