Question Background noise on 8700C

Please Login to Remove!

Me and a few other coworkers just received a 8700c Blackberry for work. We have all noticed that people we speak to on this phone, complain that they can't hear us because of the background noise. In reading past bb threads one solution was to upgrade the OS but I'm thinking I just got the darn thing, surely the OS can't be that out dated.

Anyone else having this trouble?

Default same here

I'm running OS version 4.1.0.194. However the sound quality has always been poor with the bb devices in my opinion.

The sound quality is one of the improvements if you upgrade to Bharti (.284).

Last month I got an 8700g from CSL in HKG and that came with 4.1.0.286 loaded. Sound quality and clarity is much better than the 7210 which was running .136. Just before I handed the 7210 back in, I upgraded it also and sound quality was better.

Mostly the complaint from the past has been the same, too much background noise. Something in the software is doing better background noise cancellation in these later versions.

Due to poor sound quality, I've always carried a separate cell phone to my BB but perhaps very soon I can ditch that and use the BB exclusively.

Default How can I tell what OS I am using?

Thanks for the response. How can I tell what O/S I am using? Is it under profile or where?

Go to Options (the wrench), go to about and it should tell you there.
